If you're a male bodybuilder or physique model and want exposure, photos for your portfolio or comp card, or think you might be marketable enough for your own feature DVD, you need to get in touch with me.
I'm Joe Lobell, a Louisiana native and a graduate of LSU. I've been involved in photography since my high school years in the 1960s and 1970s. I've been employed in the communications business my entire adult life, serving as editor of daily newspapers in Arkansas and Oklahoma, working as news reporter and weathercaster for the ABC television affiliate in Waco, Texas, and managing a corporate communications department for 11 years.
I've been shooting photos and videos of bodybuilders, fitness and figure competitors since 1997. At that time I founded a website entitled Oklahoma and Texas Bodybuilding. I expanded my coverage to shows beyond the local area (I live in southern Oklahoma) and merged the original site into the larger site, MostMuscular.Com, which features bodybuilding event and workout DVDs, photos, contest schedules and more.
Also, about three years ago, I decided to specialize in male bodybuilders and models where I had many friends and a bit more expertise. Although I do occasionally shoot fitness and figure competitors, 90+ percent of my work is with male bodybuilders and physique models.
I shoot between 30,000 and 60,000 bodybuilding photos each year, including on-stage, gym and outdoor locations. The vast majority of these photos are published on the web. I also shoot, edit and produce between 15 and 25 DVD productions each year, some of which I sell and some of which are sold by the featured athletes/models. Our featured models include bodybuilders and fitness athletes from the novice level to IFBB pros such as Johnnie Jackson, David Henry and Art Atwood as well as physique magazine cover models Sagi Kalev, T.J. Humphreys, Mo Mendez, Jeff Dwelle, and more.
I travel to between 12 and 20 competitions each year and usually arrange photo shoots before, during and after these events when competitors are in their best condition. My niche is outdoor, natural light physique photography that presents the male musculature in a variety of creative forms as well as workout and posing footage. I'll shoot photos indoor with lights if necessary, but prefer outdoor settings. I always strive to find creative ways to showcase a good physique, but I do NOT shoot frontal nudity, so don't ask.
My work has been featured in major bodybuilding magazines as both full-page editorial and advertising content. I do NOT sell photos from scheduled shoots. Models receive full usage rights from all photo shoots.
My goal in being listed on modelmayhem.com is to expand my clientele beyond the athletes I meet at the shows I attend and create new opportunities for portfolio development and DVD titles, many of which the models themselves can sell.
