I have a strong DIY ethos, and pursue an unconventional, bohemian and hedonistic kind of existence. My disenfranchisement from social tradition and the status quo is reflected by my art and I have no interest in those who seek to co-opt the subculture into the mainstream. Although I enjoy fashion from an anti-fashion perspective, I deplore the politics and marketing ploys of the fashion and beauty industry and actively seek to create an alternative to (not a microcosm of) the mainstream values and standards imposed on all sexes and genders by these greedy capitalist conglomerates. My work is inherently feminist in its creation, and I actively promote an empowered female perspective amongst the typical misogynistic, male-dominated, and misappropriated aesthetics of the erotica/fetish/adult genre. I avoid a highly stylized look and instead attempt to translate ordinary surroundings into my own dreamy fantasy world with an emphasis on lighting, color & composition. Creative expression takes priority over technical perfection, as I would consider myself, 'an artist whose medium is photography'. I work both in traditional film and digital format and generally prefer to make use of natural and available light for most of my fine art photography. I shoot mainly for the purpose of portfolio development, gallery shows, and occasionally editorial contributions, and I strictly shoot TFP, offering my models prints and web versions of the best shots for use in their portfolio and personal websites. *Models - please do not solicit me to pay you under any circumstances. Occasionally I will accept commissioned work by private collectors in which case I do offer the model(s) a percentage of the commissioned price. I also accept limited commissions for portfolio development, boudoir photography, and promotional work such as band photos, headshots, etc. Please feel free to inquire for rates and availability. I am very easy going and flexible, and I understand that modeling is not the most important thing in life. Therefore, I am considerate of necessary cancellations, given adequate notice. However, I have no tolerance for being stood-up or models that flake at the last minute (unless under emergency circumstances). If you do this or have done this to me in the past – you can bet your sweet ass that you are on, or will be on, my shit list. If you make a habit of doing this to other photographers, please do not bother to contact me. I enjoy working with friends and I only work with people who I feel are considerable of fostering a creative connection with, and of whom I find worthy of glorifying through my art. My models are not just the subjects of my photography, but my muses. Models who have a developed personal style and that do not require the assistance of makeup artists and hair stylists are preferable for my creative purposes, although that isn’t to say that I do not value the skill and artistry of professional makeup artists and hair stylists, and certainly for some projects I find it to be absolutely integral to the concept. Professionalism and integrity are of utmost priority to me, both from myself and from those whom I choose to work with.
