Vanishing Florida Exhibit this Friday
Vanishing Florida opens at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach on Friday night, October 9, 2009. There will be an opening reception to which the public is invited. The exhibit will remain there for viewing through October 28, 2009.
Members of Photo Salon realized over time that many of their photographs captured the beauty, the charm, the people, places and things they’ve found most interesting in South Florida, and that many of these things were quickly disappearing. So the idea for "Vanishing Florida" was born.
The exhibition is a tribute to the eroding beaches and failing seawalls, vintage buildings and architecture, endangered wildlife, small towns, and the natives who have long called this state home.
This will be a juried show. The photographs have been selected by Charles Stainback, the William and Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Don't overlook Jackee and her Photoshop Lightroom clsses. You'll need to be able to process all of those images you're shooting.
These are just the ones Jackee and I are teaching. There are several other photography and printmaking classes offered by other instructors as well as the Photo Salon held on alternate Thursday evenings.
By the way, Jackee has created a portfolio here on Model Mayhem:

She has some projects going on you should ask her about.
April 13th, Carrie in the Swamp
We took a little drive down to Loop Road and shot a little fashion with Carrie along Gator Hook Trail. Even though it is supposed to be a swamp, being part of the Big Cypress Preserve, it was bone dry.
We hiked in about a mile where there is a dwarf cypress stand. Where Carrie is sitting in the photo above the water is normally knee deep. It was a good day to shoot though. We came back with some really incredible images that day.
You can read the entire story of the swamp shoot and read about more of our ramblings over on our blog at
