My name is Matthew Westray but most people know me as Wicky. I am a Los Angeles based artist and photographer originally from New Jersey. I have been in involved in the arts for as long as I can remember and just recently decided to pursue it as more of a career than hobby. I am also a fashion designer. Before I moved to Los Angeles I worked in NYC for Tommy Hilfiger as a member of his Creative Services team. I would help create the mood boards and find articles of clothing for inspiration to help create each line, I loved it and love fashion. After 5 years with Hilfiger I decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue my dream of being a designer and started a woman's wear brand a little over a year ago called Foxbait, I do most of the photography for this as well. My art is my life and I do not know what I would do if I couldn't create. I am not sure exactly what I would call my style of painting, but I paint these characters I call "Extremophiles" which are organisms in the world that thrive on the most harshest of environments i.e.; extreme heat, cold, pressure etc... Even though we all do not thrive in these environments, I still believe we all have a bit of an Extremophile in us. We all adapt and hopefully improve ourselves in the environments we are set in, it is a beautiful thing. I hope to continue advancing in my art, fashion and photography and would like to combine them all together. I plan on doing photo shoots in the near future in which I will than paint my Extremophiles in a "remix" style over these images. I would love to work with some fresh, great faces with some good expressions as to show they are interacting with my Extremophiles. I really think Model Mayhem can help me in my journey as an artist.
