About Me

I'm a photographer. My skills were at its low and it would be a few years before I was comfortable with street photography and taking pictures of people. But the more photos I took, the more I enjoyed it, and so I explored and experimented. At not one time did I think, “Wow, I’m really passionate about photography.” It’s just that, as my skills slowly developed, I enjoyed it more and more. When it comes to habits, I refer to this process as “habit graduation” you start with a small habit that is easy and slowly graduate to harder habits that require more developed skills. One of the most central human desires is to master something whether it be public speaking, knitting, traveling, weightlifting, writing, photography, or anything else. Deep down, we all want to feel competent and skilled. In my experience, passion follows this pursuit of mastery. I’m passionate about weightlifting because I spend hours each week trying to master the skill. I’m passionate about writing because every Monday and Thursday I work to improve the skill. I’m passionate about photography because every time I’m on the road, I try to capture the essence of that place. I still have a long way to go with my photography, but the pursuit of mastery is what keeps me excited about it. If you’re searching for meaning in your work or your life, I encourage you to think about where you’re spending your time and what skills you’re trying to improve. Passion often
