A widely recognized photographer, Yella has photographed hundreds of events since 1995. Since starting King Yella Photography, Yella has traveled across the southern coast practicing his trade - specializing in Entertainment & Media Photography.
Photography is in Chris Hawkins' blood. A native of St. Louis, MO, he is the son of an award winning photographer - Mr. Charles "Sonny" Hawkins, Chris' exposure to photography started early. Coupled with his natural ability, Chris learned the fundamentals of photography and intricate details of camera usage from his father. Today he his a leading freelance photographer in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.
People recognize great work. While attending Southern University A&M College - Baton Rouge, Chris became a photographer for the school's Yearbook and award-winning newspaper "The Southern Digest". Chris demonstrated his refined skills of capturing the essence of college life during his academic tenure. His classmates, who called him Yella, solicited his business for personal photo shoots, parties, and community events.
Clients carry weight. Yella has shot exclusively for renown rapper Mystikal and photographed other celebrities such as Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordon, Nelly, Lil Boosie, Marcus Spears96, Roy Jones Jr and Jessie Jackson. In addition, Yella's work can be viewed in several popular magazines including Ozone, Vibe, Hip-Hop Weekly, XXL, Jet, Sister2Sister and The Source.
Although he has reached notable success as a freelancer and entrepreneur, he is still astonished by the love and appreciation expressed by his clients.
