I probably started taking pix before the parents of many of the younger models here were even born. That should tell you how much I need to work at it still!

Someone once said “Let your photographs speak for themselves.”

Then I thought, “Yeah right, but what if my pix are so dumb they can’t say anything at all about themselves?”

At one stage in my life I took pix to put bread on the table. I’ve seen my images published more often than I care to remember, so I don’t have to get my jollies that way any more. Neither does this mean that I think I am a great photographer, just consistent enough to be kept on staff. However, its still nice to be stroked like that now and then. Like most other people, I do have an ego somewhere.

Why do I take pix now? Because I can – like, "I climb that mountain because its there", except I don’t really like to climb mountains, but you get my drift. I might not be the best photographer out there, but I make up for it with enthusiasm. If you enjoy getting involved in the creation of the image, you’ll enjoy working with me.

I love being creative, it satisfies something deep inside me. I enjoy creating an image in my head and then bringing it to fruition in front of my lens. As Col John “Hannibal” Smith said, “I love it when a plan comes together”, and that also probably dates me somewhat.

Subject matter can be anything that takes my fancy. I’d prefer to be a specialist with my camera than a specialist in any one particular genre. It leaves me open to explore and be creative with anything that interests me. But, I do like tongue in cheek, whimsy, understatement, and where appropriate, subtle “statement”. And then of course there is “art”, in whatever form we envisage it.

So if you’d like to take a walk a ways down my path of enlightenment, and share your talents with my meager offerings, let me know.

Oh – I don’t usually charge models to take pix of them. To me, real clients have commercial needs for the photographs they require – the rest of us are simply part of the food chain that feeds that commercialism. If we lose sight of that, I think we then focus on the wrong thing. End of sermon.
