Micky Flores career as a Producer/Photographer began as an unexpected journey of
discovery. He found one talent after another until he eventually
arrived at his passion, a passion that has taken him all over the world
visiting foreign lands including Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Italy, and
Uruguay, as well as cities such as San Francisco, New York and Miami.
Flores began his career in entertainment as a musician at the age of
seven...that's right, seven. His parents bought him a keyboard (they
could not afford an actual piano). He played this keyboard, and
several other instruments, until he found his true musical gift at the age of 16,
drums. Flores has always loved percussion, so the minute he
purchased a drum set, he could not be pulled away from it. His love
for rhythm moved him to dance. As an accomplished dancer in the Swing
and Latin genres he developed skills that would lead to remarkable
choreography later on. He performed with many bands and dance groups,
experiences which launched him into the entertainment industry.
In his late teens Flores began modeling and the evolution from
performer to photographer was well under way. Early in his career, he traveled
with a group of Los Angeles based models to South America where he
worked both as a model and as a production assistant choreographing
fashion shows in the exotic ruins of Machu Pichu, Peru and throughout
South America. On the expedition he model clothing belonging to the
Versace, Gucci, and Missoni labels. His work appeared in many
international magazines, including GQ active and Men's Health, as well
as in several Latin-American newspapers. This first trip to South America led to many opportunities in production assistance and runway choreography here in the States, an aspect of the fashion industry he enjoys very much.
In addition to experience in front of the camera and on stage Flores
acquired a degree in Multi-Media/Graphic Design. His education exposed
him to many areas of opportunity in the photographic field. Although
his focus is in fashion, Flores has also covered surf and extreme sport
competitions. Not to be ignored is his impressive portfolio of event photographs -
celebrity and local charity events, concerts, and awards shows (e.g.
Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammys, Emmys). Through his presence at these events Flores has established close professional relationships with a
variety of celebrities and designers including Charlie Lapson, Single, Cesar De La Parra, Frederic Missir, ED HARDY, Diamond in the Rough, etc. He is quickly becoming a fixture at the highly acclaimed biannual Fashion Week. Also, in September 2004 he was invited to visit Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Punta del Este, Uruguay where he shot both runway shows and documentary style photographs of the surrounding cultures.
Flores' combined experience as a musician, dancer, model, choreographer
and graphic artist balances him as a photographer. His experience in
front of the camera enables Flores to relate to and relax models. As
musician he is able to predict the impact of music on models and
performers and to catch their reactions on film at the ideal moment. As
a choreographer and a dancer he captures the movement of a model, of a
moment. Flores' training as a graphic designer serves to perfect his
photography from a technical as well as a creative aspect, always on
the cutting edge.
Flores’ motto: "Bringing inner beauty to the outer limits" -
something he unquestionably excels in.
