Orlando Valladares was born in Jersey City, New Jersey but spent most of his time in New York City. During his younger years, Orlando enrolled at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ attending courses in Marketing. He later redirected his studies to Graphic Design still studying Marketing and concluded his training at Montclair State University with double majors. In 1998, Orlando launch H6K (Hombre 6000) and
www.h6k.com, the first ever Fashion Lifestyle/Avant-Garde Magazine for English-speaking Hispanic Men thus starting a Media trend. During this period, H6K allowed Valladares to form close working relationships with some of the top fashion photographers, models, celebrities, stylist and established featured designers However, Orlando is no stranger to the camera either seeing as he’s been featured in several magazines, newspapers, TV programs including Fox News, Rockers, NYTV21 and Radio stations such as Hot 97 and La Mega. In 2000 after taking H6K’s circulation up to 100K, Hearst Publication met with Orlando to discuss partnering/buying H6K. By 2002, Orlando Valladares decided to sell H6K Magazine to ValMar Trading Company and turn his fashion involvement away from editorial toward fashion design. Since then, Valladares has had collaborations with such brands as Le Tigre, Von Dutch, NYNE, Liz Claiborne, Eddie Bauer, Dupri, Sean John, Echo, Penguin, New Balance, Macoris, Equal Jean to name a few. By 2003, Orlando announced the creation of the kenstruzTd brand. kenstruzTd is the culmination of Valladares’ experience as a fashion designer, and Constructed to be Trusted is the motto of the company. The high-end inspired line of kenstruzTd was introduced in New York City, and featured trucker caps with a rugged, sophisticated and fashionable edge, and a limited collection of edgy, fashion forward tees.
