Mark Koolen has started his career as a photographer in 2005. It became his passion in life. He quickly came in touch with Fashion Photography and uses his off-shoe flash technique to see the effect of light on his photographs. He did research in (flash) light and light formers to see what they can do with the image. Many collaborations with models, Clothing Designers and Make-Up Artists were found to experiment new results on new locations for his research.
The collaboration with various photographers expanded his skills as a Photographer and with all that knowledge he took his own path. With this learning process he got the results he wanted to see in his own photographs.
The import agency of Hensel in the Netherlands, Goutier & Peters, started in 2008 a sponsorship with Mark Koolen.
As a result he worked and still works with sophisticated and professional flash light equipment. The Hensel Porty is one of the most used tool in his Photography and defines 95% of the end result of his fashion and editorial shoots.
He has done several fashion shoots in Paris with a team of good trained models and Make-Up Artists to get more out of his frames. So working on international ground is rather a
challenge then a problem.
In the early days the clients were individuals, but now-a-days the clients are companies. Commercial Photography is the Core Business which Mark Koolen is mostly working in, with in particular the Editorial Fashion and Lifestyle Photography.
