About Me

Steven Clark (Writer, Producer, Director, Photographer, Musician, Raconteur) has been a professional freelancer for the last fifteen plus years but has been practicing the arts since birth. His father had a basement darkroom and it seems the developing chemicals took effect in utero. Other kids wanted to play with their Star Wars figures but Steven was more interested in photographing them and creating stop motion shorts, directing already. He went to a magnet art school, not a great fit so he skipped senior year and went directly to college for music education with even worse results (too much structure drains the soul). Left college to go on the road with his rock band “Cornbread Mafia” and the constant travel and stream of fresh environments, people, and information fit like a warm greasy chicken-skin glove. He learned a shit-load about people and characters on the road and those folks still show up in his scripts to this day. The band was courted by Atlantic Records, Electra, and others but Steven wouldn’t sell out the music to the suits for cookie-cutter pop radio and water-down what was working perfectly every night in the clubs. The “C-Mob” played their last set at CBGB and Steven went back to filmmaking and photography full time.

Steven is known for being able to squeeze high-art from a low budget lemon when that’s what he is handed. He has worked on multiple low budget features, shorts, etc. To pay the bills he currently produces/directs/shoots/edits commercials for web and broadcast for such nationally recognized organizations as Kosair Children’s Hospital (from concept to air), VISA, Kentucky Derby Museum, Norton Healthcare, Bench and Bar Magazine (cover), Louisville Courier Journal Fashion Section (all photography), Vanderbilt University Medical Center, D.P.’d a national award winning campaign commercial for a state senator, and more photo shoots and music videos than you can shake a stick at. He recently did lighting design and co-starred in the festival winning feature “Nothing Without You” (Best Feature 2012 Toronto Independent Film Festival) and is currently writing and recording music under the pseudonym “The Ass Haulers”.

Currently in pre-production on the features “Bucktown” (director/writer), and DP on “Character Assassination” directed by George Maranville

My producing partner is George Maranville...

George Maranville has worked in independent film for over twenty years. His work includes the projects as diverse as the recent thriller film Coffin  for which he served as producer & editor, the comedy short film Yeti Vengeance, which screened at over a dozen film festivals including Los Angeles International Short, Silverlake and Malibu Film Festivals, the children's film Sam Steele and the Junior Detective Agency, and the controversial gritty true crime drama 100 Proof, which was a competitor at the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Film Festivals.
Maranville cut his teeth in the production world with his documentary Dusk ‘Til Dawn, a critically lauded piece about the drive-in theater culture, financed by PBS, and followed that with a stint as an assistant to the producers on the feature film Lawn Dogs, working with producers Duncan Kenworthy (Four Weddings and a Funeral; Notting Hill) and David Rubin (Cold Mountain).
Between features, documentaries and narrative shorts, Maranville works as both an 1st Assistant Director and Post Production Supervisor in the commercial world, including the most recent Toyota and General Electric commercials that aired during the 2012 & 2013 Superbowls.
