I started shooting bands in 1995 and basically did nothing else for the next 7 or 8 years. Most of that stuff is horrible or taken on a digital camera so old that I can't print images bigger than 4"x6". I feel like I wasted a lot of time. At some point I went back to film, got a 20mm lens and started shooting nothing but portraits on 35mm. I worked for a web newspaper for a while doing whatever bullshit they sent my way from food photos to event work. After moving to NYC in 2006 I started doing nightlife photography full time. I currently shoot for my website drivenbyboredom.com, villagevoice.com and Vice Magazine.
Nudes have always been a big hobby of mine since a girlfriend gave me a Polaroid camera when I was 19. I started shooting Polaroids of all my friends topless and in the last 10 years I have accumulated hundreds of different topless girl Polaroids. With the death of Polaroid FilmI figured it would be a good time to start working on a book of the best Polaroids matched up with stories about the person in the photo: how I met them, how the photo was shot, or what they mean to me in my life.
I think some of my worst work is nudes, but I am trying to get better at it which is mostly why I started this page. I am looking to to TFCD and/or content trades. I post galleries of my work on drivenbyboredom.com and ithinkthatshot.com which sends quite a lot of traffic if you need the publicity. In the same vein I also have a weekly photo posted on fleshbot.com which is huge publicity as well if you are working in the adult world.
My port is varied in styles because I am working on several separate types of shoots. You might be interested in one or more of them:
1. I am working on a book called Drink, Fight & Fuck. It has financing and I am just trying to figure out the details of how we are going to release it and how we are going to distribute it. I have a pretty good edit of the craziest 200 shots of my career but I am always looking for more stuff. It's all 35mm work and most of it comes from the adventures listed in project #2. I am not going to stop shooting for this book until we send it off to the printer, but the stuff in this book isn't portraiture work and it's pretty fucking wild so getting in the book isn't as simple as setting up a shoot.
2. 35mm Point and Shoot - I love my Yashica T4 more than anything. I love going out with a girl and just getting into trouble and seeing what we can come up with. I bring my Yashica around with me everywhere, shooting constantly and two themes in the photos keep coming up in the photos: Food and public nudity. I want to shoot people in their kitchens cooking food and turn it into some sort of food related zine. I also want to just get into trouble and get naked in stores and in front of cabs. I just think the story of the shot is as much fun as the content.
3. Classier/ Thought Out Nudes - Now that I have a Nikon D700 and some nice glass I am trying to shoot more without using any flash or strobes. I want to do more low light desaturated things at higher ISOs. I can always bring out my strobes too. There is room here for just implied nudity, but everyone loves nipples...
4. Flashing Strangers - I have this hilarious idea for a project where I bring my friends out on the street and have them flash strangers. When the guy looks at her boobs, I take the shot. They are pretty hilarious and a lot of fun to do. They make for good stories if nothing else. Plus, in NY it is legal for women to be topless in public. And as stupid as the project sounds, I actually have put a lot of thought into the fetishization of public nudity and the sexuality of humor. The project is strangely well thought out.
5. Quick and Sleazy Bathroom Shoots - As I mentioned I do a lot of night club work and some of the most fun is pulling people into a bathroom in a night club and doing a quick photo shoot before people start banging on the door because they want to do coke. It is fun and adventurous and it requires very little time commitment.
6. Topless Polaroid Project/Book - See above.
Anyway, I set up this site primarily to find nude models, but I am available for hire for a number of different things. Editorial portraits, event work and bands are my specialties. You can check out that work at
http://www.drivenbyboredom.com. The nude stuff is all TFP/CD but the event work will cost you...
I hope you dig my stuff. You can find me on twitter at
