Award winning Painter/Filmmaker John (Gianni) Monteleone first studied painting at sixteen years old with his grandfather, Franco Monteleone, who was a successful illustrator and wood-grainer during the Great Depression, Franco supported four families with his artistic talent.
Graduating form the School Of Visual Arts in painting under the guidance of figure painter Steven Assael, Gianni has emerged as one of the great masters of figurative painting. His work combines Chiaroscuro luminosity, superb compositional skill and abundant historical reference.
He has been exhibited throughout the United States.Gianni’s work is held in private collections such as the New York Times, NBC, Time Warner, Lucas Arts and The Disney Corporation. His first film "Valley of The Moon premiered at the Indie Spirit Film festival and has gone on to win seven festival awards. He will be directing his first feature film "Inventing Eden" shooting 2014.
