My name is Ben Walker. I am a full time artist and illustrator from Sacramento, CA. My work has been shown in galleries throughout California, like Gallery 1988 (LA), The Hive Gallery (LA), and The Toyroom (Sacramento) to name a few. I also do illustration work for album covers, magazine editorials, and my own line of T shirt designs. My artwork can be seen at
www.benwalkerart.com.
Now I put on drawing events featuring live, clothed models. I am joined by a dozen or so talented artists who pay a nominal fee to draw with me. I call these sessions Pompsicle drawing studios. What does Pompsicle mean? It’s a word I made up to describe a frozen fashion show. These drawing sessions have much of the excitement of a runway show, but models are “frozen” in a pose so that they can be drawn. Get it? It’s a lot of fun.
Pompsicle Drawing Studios is continuing to grow and evolve. Currently, they are held monthly (roughly) at various venues like The Towe Auto Museum (models posing in classic cars), antique mall (in a recreated 50s kitchen), comic-book conventions, and at live music performances.

F.A.Q / What's involved in modeling?
A Pompsicle session lasts for 2-3 hours and includes a 15 minute break plus plenty of "breathers" between poses. Each pose lasts 3 to 20 minutes.
Do you supply the clothes/costume?
I have no stockpile of costumes (yet). I have some cool props and accessories and occasionally rent costumes, but generally it revolves around whatever a model has in his/her own closet.
Does modeling for Pompsicle pay?
This depends on the event. I will let you know beforehand what the budget is (if any) for models. Models are always welcome to have one of my sketches from their session (TFS, time for sketch!). Check out the artwork in the profile pics. They are all my artwork.
