WHO: “JAK” is a nickname a friend of mine gave me (my initials backwards). I’m a 20 year old self taught photographer currently a sophomore in college on the track of getting my BFA with (hopefully) a concentration in photography.
BACKGROUND: I first started taking photos when I was 17 with those point and shoot cameras. I received my first DSLR as a graduation present when I finished High School. I’ve been shooting digitally for a year now, mostly of myself and of my friends. I thought it would be a great opportunity to join MM, and improve as a photographer. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience in taking photos with models I'm not already familiar with, hopefully meeting some of you here will change that.
STYLE: I still have a lot to learn, and definitely still experimenting to see where I feel most comfortable in. So. I really don’t think I have a definite “style” yet, but I tend to gravitate towards doing portraits. I LOVE to play with color tones and such so I try to put that in most of my shots.

*If you're curious, I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel Xti. I currently own 3 lenses (18-55mm, 28-80mm, 50mm). Seeing as I'm a broke college student, I dont own lighting equiptment as of yet. So, I mostly do my shoots outside with natural light :]

Excellent work!!! We all know that meeting models, MAU’s, hairstylists and fashion stylists face to face is far more effective than simply looking at a few pictures online! Not only can you better decipher which people are in line with your goals, you can speak to other photographers about tips, tricks of the trade, shooting locations, job opportunities and even showcase your work to a large audience of 900 people or more. Through speaking with people in person, you can find out who really has the experience, skill level, drive, enthusiasm and professionalism to better raise the quality of your portfolio. You just can’t get any of this stuff from simply looking at a few photos online!

good! i took a very loooonnnggg break from MM, like months after my first shoot, because of school and such... bad idea, it's probably better to get into the swing of things and stick with it :)
ps. if it makes you feel better it spent a months worth of pay on it (good thing i have to 2 jobs! lol)
