Mayhem # 771550
In 2014 I am looking for female models interested in collaborating in photo-art projects. I am particularly fond of images things are very dark or very light and ethereal. Outside of the studio settings I am open to many things, from streets to tunnels, cemeteries to railroads, forests or cities. I have available on-property stone walls, forest trails, an abandoned shelter, a country cemetery, even a short tunnel. I especially like working in and around water, looking at the way that the water forms on and around the model, and resulting reflections and light patterns. Among other things we have two small ponds and a rocky stream with many pools to work with.
The very dark finds us working in everything from the studios to tunnels, caves or mines (all of these within 25 miles or so of Louisville). For the ethereal, photosynthesis comes into play and the only limit is the imagination. Frequently there is more to my imagery than meets the eye, as I employ a variety of synthetic techniques….from in-camera color separations to computer driven tone lines.
Pagan imagery interests me. Spectres, ghosts, witches, nymphs, faeries…wardrobe possibilities are infinite…
I have a formal photography background….a 4 year degree in photography from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, as well as side-bars in art and design (I also have a background of drawing art class models). I am semi-retired with 40+ years of working with photographing models. At this point I am in this for the artistic endeavor and enjoy the process of brainstorming with a model, collaborating, and making strong images. Collaboration is the best way to think outside of one’s box.
The creation of this art should be, and is, fun for everyone involved and the images likewise show it. I am not particularly interested in re-creating Barbie and have no interest in producing the boring sorts of things found in lockers. That stuff is at least boring and at most offensive. Much of my work involves nudity and the beauty of the form and tone of the body. That said, I don't care for in-your-face nudity and lean toward images where the identity of the model is obscure, or the nudity is "implied" rather than explicit.
I generally shoot TFP. Your time and skills are valuable as are mine. I have generally had better experiences with people modeling for fun than those motivated by money, so removing that from the equation eliminates some from working with me but that’s ok. I understand that everyone has to eat and this situation may not be the one that works for you. I am willing to help with the cost of getting yourself here if that's an issue for you.
Please contact me if you are interested in fine arts photography. I’m happy to talk with you, and in fact, I prefer talking before shooting. So thanks for dropping by and let me know if you’d like to explore collaboration.
