I strive to be better
. With each and every photo I take, I want it to be an improvement over the last one I take. From inception to planning, to shooting to post, I want the process to be an evolution that brings me closer still to where I want to be as a photographer: The best I am capable of being, and more.
I have a creative bent for alternative art and imagery, and am currently looking to work with other people - male or female - who share similar artistic interests. I'm hoping to find less than perfect people, with scars, tattoos, piercings, body mods, etc. I really look for something different, and shy away from the same old canned, cookie cutter stuff that has been done a thousand times over - I want to meet those with an artistic, creative drive, are willing to share their ideas and be a part of the creative process and don't mind experimenting and stepping outside of the norm.
You can see more of my work - old and new - by visiting Novus Photography on Facebook.
I work strictly TFP. I feel my time, equipment and skills are just as valuable as your skills as a model, and thus, do not pay models. I shoot for the sheer fun of shooting - I strive to someday be an "in demand" photographer - not famous, but successful enough to keep busy and make enough to keep my family comfortable. I have a ton of fun experimenting, messing around and seeing what the model and myself can create. I've made some great friends along the way, and hope to make many more. I don't have a whole bunch of fancy lights, strobes, or umbrellas.. My "studio" is just a converted bedroom, (until I can afford the loft in downtown Montreal that I've always dreamed of, lol), I don't have sets or fancy props, or any of that... I just get into an environment and make use of whatever I can find within arms reach. Often, my environment is my biggest inspiration.
What I do have is an unlimited amount of creative ideas, and a great, easy-going personality.
In case it's not obvious by now, I have a preference for black and white, and a very photo-journalistic approach to my subject matter. If you're looking for perfectly airbrushed maxim glam, I'll probably disappoint. (But I'd try it anyways!) If you like what you see in my profile, feel free to drop me a line and lets do coffee and talk.
I do not accept random friend requests. If I get one, it means you haven't read my profile, and are probably a spammer, and I'll just hit delete. Drop me a line, say hi, tell me a joke, tag me, comment on a photo, or tell me what you like about my work. It's actually a pretty weird pet peeve of mine.
Currently interested in shooting something along the lines of: In order of priority)
- Nudes, Masquerade, glam, 40's speakeasy, etc. Landscape, greyscale, exaggerated colours, etc. I want to create elegant, sexy, alluring, mysterious images suitable for framing. Please see my lists for examples.
At this time, my MAIN interest and priorities are in shooting fine art nudes, high res closeup portraits, and high fashion, influenced by magazine covers such as Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Interview Magazine
. See my "greyscale" list for examples.
Long Beach, Tofino, Ucluelet, Cathedral Grove forest, a rocky shoreline, on a beach with crashing waves?
Think "abandoned warehouse" or a burned out house. Abandoned prison/mental institution, anyone?
Old, rickety windmill, open fields all around, beat up, run down old house. A little more difficult to do now that I've moved away from Alberta. In IR or monotone, of course.
*I do not, under any circumstances, work, network or shoot with anyone who is under 19, ever. Please respect that.
* I never, under any circumstances give out unedited, unprocessed, "raw" images. Ever.
