ABOUT ME:
A little about myself. I have been shooting over 20 years and have shot covers of Vogue, Cosmo, Elle, G.Q, Marie Claire, maxim and Playboy just to name few. I have also photographed many academy award winning actors.
My career began in Paris where i lived for over seven years and i now divide my time between NYC, LA, Toronto and Europe. So i am definitely not new to the business! Lol! I do not do tests but i will look at portfolios. I appreciate all the interest and requests for paid testing but unfortunately i do not offer those services.
WHY I'M ON MM:
I am currently working on a book and gallery project that features a series of natural artistic nudes. The images will be beautiful, slightly stylized but also very natural, letting each model's personality come through. I am looking for creative muse-like models who are beautiful in a natural way but also smart and creative. There is no payment involved but the book will garner a lot of publicity for everyone involved and i will ensure that you receive high res retouched finals of any images we use as well as access to any photos you want from the shoot.
As i have been shooting high end fashion and celebrity portraiture for many years now and wanted to do a project that was more personal in nature. I also have a book coming out next fall that is series of celebrity portraits so i thought this would be a nice counter balance.
WORDS OF ADVCIE
I often see profiles that say 'No Unpaid Shoots' and i think to myself that these models are a combination of misinformed and ignorant of how the business works. It makes no sense to do an unpaid shoot with a bad photographer but if the photographer is amazing then as a model you would be crazy or plain stupid not to at leas consider it. Here's why. if you are serious about having any kind of career you should take any opportunity to shoot with great photographers. Even models like Kate Moss and Gisele constantly shoot unpaid editorial to build their brand. For example Vogue only pays models $250 per shoot and V Magazine does not pay at all. i know this because i shoot for them.
This business isn't just about getting paid. It's about building your own brand and relationships with good photographers. For example, if i have never worked with you then how could i recommend you for a paid job? I couldn't.
So, my professional advice for you would be to take any shoot you can get with GOOD photographers and to pass on free shoots with photographers who aren't any good.
NEXT STEPS
Please let me know if you are interested in working with me on this special project. If so then we can set up a quick meeting as, like any pro, i do not work with models i have never seen in person. Personality is a big factor to me as a photographer as it is for most pros.
Good luck to everyone in pursuit of their dreams and aspiration. A great attitude and a strong work ethic are a big part of what it takes to become successful.
Kind Regards,
Michael
