Isolation. What does it mean to you? It's often associated with loneliness, but it's also something that is often a part of achieving peace. In can be part of the creative process - isolating yourself to free yourself from distractions so that your mind can wander and your imagination can create.
Lots of creative people have spent time either literally isolated or feeling isolated. Read the forums here and you see stories of being or feeling isolated because of their work - or does their work come from isolation in the first place?
The actual space these photos are shot in is integral to the results. It is an actual Isolation Room - in a recording studio, used to isolate sounds from mixing with other sounds. Tons of great music has been made in this room, as well as the photos you see here, so it's a positive space.
This will be an ongoing project and exploration until, I'm sure, some day I'll decide to stop.
Please feel free request a shoot with me if you'd like to express you feelings of isolation or ideas you've imagined in isolation. It's a safe space to take creative risks, but because it's important for me to make it so and it's very difficult to take a bad photo with this lighting. In fact the avatar, all low angle shots and probably all of the high angle and wide shots were taking without even looking through the view finder. And, every photo in this port is an unretouched JPEG, straight out of the camera.
I look forward to shooting models who have ideas far beyond anything I've ever imagined.
