About Gary Collins and Studio 371
I’m a professional photographer, a graduate of the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology, with degrees in Portraiture and Commercial Photography. I specialize in:
• Black and white photography
• Traditional photography
• Fashion
• High school senior portraits
I also enjoy working in editorial, artistic, figure, lingerie, sports, family portraits, groups, corporate and commercial photography.
Studio 371, my studio, is in Kettering, off East David Road. I shoot both in studio and on location. I especially enjoy using outdoor settings, where natural light offers special challenges and scope for creativity.
Why I Became a Photographer
I began taking photographs while serving in the Army in Afghanistan. I wanted to find a way to show my family and friends that Afghanistan was more than just a war zone, that its landscapes and people possess an unfamiliar beauty all their own. At first, this might have been simply my way of dealing with the stress of a combat zone, but as I pursued it, I found that photography allowed me to express myself in new and satisfying ways.
When I completed my military service, I decided to follow my passion: to pursue photography fulltime. I enrolled in OIP&T and studied every aspect of the craft and art: photography of all kinds, lighting, design, camera skills, Photoshop, web design and ethics.
The work turned out to be all I had hoped for; challenging, intriguing, satisfying — and fun!
How I Work With My Clients
First of all, I am a professional. I like to have fun at my shoots, but I take my work, and my results, seriously. I ask that my clients do likewise: show up, be on time and act professional. You are welcome to bring an escort, with the understanding that they will behave professionally as well and may be asked to lend a hand during shooting.
I’m always looking for the next challenge or the next new idea. I don’t settle for being comfortable, whether shooting or editing, and I relish the challenge of new and different locations — surprising circumstances bring out everyone’s creativity!
I am a no-drama photographer. If I make a commitment to you, I will keep it. You don’t need to fear that I’ll cancel or pull a no-show.
As time permits, I will do TFP (time for print), TFCD (time for a CD of the images) and TFE (time for emailed images), and I will travel out of the Dayton metro area as long as travel is compensated.
On TFP, TFCD and TFE work, I provide images sized for the web. I touch up only the prints I find acceptable and, unless we’ve agreed otherwise prior to shooting, I display my logo on every print.
I do not pay models.
Paid jobs are always welcome. Services I offer include, among others, hardbound books, comp cards and prints. My rates are reasonable: I’ll be happy to provide them upon request.
About My Portfolio
I invite you to view my portfolio on my Facebook page, Studio 371 (link:

You’ll find that the poses many of my clients have chosen include nudity, implied nudity and lingerie. I am governed by my client’s choice: I will never ask you to do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. What to wear and how to pose are your decisions.
You’ll also find comments from many of my clients. One of the best things I get from doing this work is to hear my clients say that the images are awesome, great — or even amazing work!
