About Me

Thank you for visiting my site. My name is Lee Meeks and I hope you enjoy what I do and how well I have done it. I am on the search for creative people, and interesting and challenging projects. If you think you want to shoot with me, please message me here and we can swap email addresses and phone numbers later if need be.

20 years in the Marine Corps taught me to go the extra mile to accomplish my goals. I spent 7 of those years living or traveling abroad; through it all I collected some amazing experiences. From life I learned there is value in being different. I grew a lot and learned a lot about myself by learning about other people, places, and things. I also learned to appreciate good images though all those travels. Personal favorites: I bungee jumped in Thailand, swum with hammerhead sharks in Hawaii, and have been inside the Mt. Pinatubo volcanic crater in the Philippines a few months after its last major eruption in 1991. I have shoe boxes full of interesting snapshots; “been there, done that, got the t-shirt” kind of shots.

But it wasn't till I realized I no longer wanted to collect interesting but technically mediocre photographs did I begin to work on developing a professional’s eye and the skill and technique necessary for making good images. That is an ongoing journey.

I have two careers now:

In one, I am a PhD technologist, working on technologies, innovations, and strategies in the satellite/remote sensing, STEM educational technology, and biomedical engineering device management domains. That world is 90% analytical and 10% creative.

And, I am a professional photographer; the world of MM and models and studios and lights and creative visions buying cool new gear and seeing the world from lots of different perspectives. This world is 90% creative and only 10% analytical.

Presumably you care more about my photography experiences, interests, and skills. I have been pursuing photography seriously for 5 years and professionally for 3. I am pursuing projects in several genres’ to figure out my niche, improve my technique, have some fun, and make some money.

I love both the creative and thinking parts of photography; I love the creative aspect that it brings to you and me. I enjoy telling a story through imagery. Whether it be shooting model ports, family portraits, couples, youth sports, or concept photography (curiously I also shoot food, computers, lasers, and landscapes). Creativity is energizing; I love sharing special moments and ideas through photography.

As a former Marine, my mantra has always been: "I vote for adventure!" That is still true. Marine Corps leadership training reduces life to two imperatives: accomplish your mission & take care of your troops. It may sound very clichéd, but my ‘mission’ now is to photograph what's interesting and beautiful to you and to me. It’s a calling. It’s being inspired. I will go a long way to get the shot. And, ‘taking care of the troops’? Why, it’s realizing professionals and customers throughout this industry each have their own valuable skills, capabilities, and needs to share. It is found in seeking interesting and challenging projects in which everyone benefits in some way, and in which they also have fun for participating.

I will do TFP/TFCD for interesting projects. But like most everyone else here, I prefer to be paid for my time and effort. If you have a project in mind, message me for my rates. I am sure we can work something out…

Cheers,
Lee

PS. The name for my photography business, Lane Cristin Photography, comes from the middle names of my two youngest daughters. It’s a great story. Be sure to ask me about it if we ever get to meet or work together.
