I am a commercial photographer with 30 years experience.
First…it's important for Inland Empire models to know that paid work is EXTREMELY limited here. If you are here thinking you can make a career in modeling in the Spokane area…you can't. Anyone who tells you differently isn't looking out for your best interests. If you are here to have fun…you are in a good spot.
New models…you should NEVER shoot in a home "studio." Professional photographers either have studios or they shoot on location. Professional don't shoot in their home. I have worked for four different professional commercial/fashion photographers and ALL of them either had a photography studio or shot on location. Shooting in a home is an extremely bad idea….period. Don't believe me…ask some of the professional models on this sight. I think you'll find that they a similar opinion.
You should ...NEVER...pay to have photos taken. If you are paying for modeling photos you ARE being ripped off!!! I love the photographers that claim to be ethical and then want you to pay them big bucks for them to photograph you. You should NEVER...EVER...pay an agency a fee to join. If you have what it takes modeling agencies will sign you for FREE. If you are paying for either photos or to be in an agency you are being ripped off. Can't state it any clearer.
BEWARE of GWC (guy with camera). This is the guy that tells you they have relatives that work for major publications or that they have been published in all kinds of magazines yet all their images in their port are basically point and shoot shots with an on camera flash. If a photographer's work is inconsistent in quality they are the dreaded GWC. The best test is to look at the photographer's images and ask yourself if you could see the photos in a publication based on quality and composition. If the answer is no then you are dealing with a GWC. Quite simple. Newbies repeat after me...we NEVER, EVER shoot in a private home "studio."
I will not shoot with a model unless they have an escort with them. To me this is just common sense. Safety first...ALWAYS. Please note I don't put any weird restrictions on approving your escort choice. Photographers that do that should cause you to stop and question why. I recommend avoiding such situations. If a photographer won't let you bring who ever you want you should walk away...fast.
I am Adobe Certified in Photoshop.
Thank you for looking at my port. I am always open to trade, test or TFP shoots. I do not pay to photograph a model so please don't ask. Message me if you have an idea you want to shoot.
