About Me

I’m Brooily Vargas and photography is my passion. For many people out there photography is a way to make money and it is for me as well. However i see photography as being more than just a stream of income. It all started back in 2007 when I got my first job as a photographer. To be honest i had no clue of how to work a camera or how to print a photo. I wanted money for video games and clothes so i lied my way into my first job. Fearing i would lose my job as soon as my boss realized i didn't know anything about photography i started to read about the basic rules of photography. Sadly that didn't work, photography is meant to be seen not read. After my first attempt to learn photography failed i turn to the best school to learn about anything, Youtube. There i found many teachers willing to teach, i spent many hours watching videos on the topic of photography. Everything from landscape to macro, i was hooked on it. Now it was time to put everything into practice. there was only one problem, I didn't own a camera. I wasn’t making crazy money so the idea of getting a brand new camera was out of the picture( pun intended). I started taking picture with my cell phone, but the limited nature of camera phones was frustrating. I had to get my hand on a proper camera, than it hit me. On halloween 06 my sister had gotten a camera, I wasn't sure what brand or type of camera it was but i knew it was better than my phones camera. The next day I took a train to Brooklyn where my sister was living at the time, there i found what would become my new right eye. It was beautiful, it was an all black, glossy looking canon rebel XT. At the time, it was the best camera i had ever seen. I took it everywhere, to work, to school, to the park, to the grocery store, to the beach, to the hospital. It had become a part of me. after taking 1000 and something horrible photos, I began to understand what photography really is. An scape to another reality, a reality you create. I began to see the world differently, things that weren't interesting all of the sudden became masterpieces. Harsh light became strong, a cloudy day gave me beautiful and soft light. At this point i had forgotten why i even started to study photography. Till this day im still working towards being the best photographer i can be, there is nothing else in this world that i want more than to be the best photographer i can be.
