"PINOCCHIO: The Story of a Real Boy"
Set in the early 1900s, a small Mississippi town finds itself in the midst of understanding the recent arrival of a mysterious Northern visitor. At the same time, a young African-American boy is in search of others like himself and making sense of his existence. Decorated with Jukebox joints and traveling circusâ sideshows, this show not only reclaims a classic fairy tale, but also ultimately allows the audience to understand a young boyâs search for self-acceptance."
About Face Theatre is hosting it's last open auditions for talented young, college-age queer and straight allied artists for their upcoming fall production of âPinocchio: The Story of a Real Boy.â At this point, they are still looking for dancers well-rehearsed in versatile styles, as well as a few lead roles are available for African-American actors and actresses.
Rehearsals would begin in late August and go until mid-October, when the show would premiere as the featured entertainment of the Annual Chicago Coming Ball, followed by a theatrical run at the Hoover-Leppin Theatre at the Center on Halsted.
A stipend will be paid to performers.
