Details:
Models & friends fight breast cancer February is National Breast Cancer awareness month and every year in either February or March, I create a project to help raise money and awareness and ask local models, photographers and friends to help. Last year, photographer Pat Berrett donated use of his studio for a day to allow Albuquerque Models and friends to help me in raising over $300 in donations sent to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrfcure.org ) of which, more than 85% went directly to research. I am once again calling on New Mexico models and their friends in Albuquerque (on Saturday March 28th,) AND NOW, in Santa Fe (on Sunday March 29th), to help me create new “Pink Ribbon Prints”. This year will be different in several ways… First… this time I will be asking the models to bring their boyfriends, husbands, girlfriends, babies, BFFs, fellow models (male or female), lovers etc. to join them in front of the camera. (If you are a model who would like to participate but would like some help in finding a posing partner, let me know and I will work with you to locate a local male or female model of your choice to pose with you.) Models will still be posed in a non-revealing yet topless manner and it will be the choice of the model’s posing partner as to how much they will be wearing for the shoot. Posing in this manner is important because it helps remind the viewer of the image, just how vulnerable everyone is to breast cancer and having someone special with them in picture, will further illustrate that breast cancer affects so many people. Another difference this year is in the way donations will be raised for the BCRF. I will be asking the models to bring to the shoot a minimum $10 donation. Models are encouraged to obtain the support of sponsors. This will make it possible for me to send a donation to the BCRF right after the shoot rather than waiting for images to be loaded and prints to be sold on a web site. (savings from not having a web site this year will increase the amount I can donate to BCRF) All models who make the minimum donation and will be given a choice of a print from their shoot or have me make a matching donation to the BCRF. Additional prints for models, sponsors, and makeup artists to keep or give will be available for a $10 donation each. Finally, interested models will be scheduled an exact 15 minute shoot window and asked to arrive early at the shoot with their makeup done off-site and ready to shoot. This will prevent the crowds of last year as well as prevent anyone from having to wait around for their turn to get their shots. Almost 30 models participated last year! I hope to double the number this year! I can also use the help of a few photographers to leave their cameras at home and come help out with setting and packing up lights, getting releases signed, collecting donations, writing receipts, and keeping models moving. Please reply to this email if you are interested in helping and I will coordinate a time when you can help. There will be a limited number of time spaces available, so please reply AS.A.P. Thank you for helping with this great cause. Dave Hotchkiss Morningstar Graphics & Photography
