About Me

"Light makes or breaks a photograph.
Understanding light, and controlling it, makes or breaks a photographer."

Life takes interesting turns. I have not touched a camera for over 5 months because of the pressure of other work. I create e-learning programs - see http://www.ktkhkw.com and contact me if you access to any of the programs there at no cost).

I also have been completely sucked into a major investigation for months.

My photo work is surfacing again. Ilooking to work on interesting projects with Guelph, or close to Guelph creative folks - models, MHUA, stylists, photographers..  You can see some of the ideas that I have in mind for shoots at https://digitaleye.photo/lets_collaborate/ .

Two of the photographers who inspire me through the strength of the images are

Lindsay Adler:  who does fashion work
https://www.lindsayadlerphotography.com/index

and Joel Grimes, who does portrait, including sport portrait work
https://www.joelgrimes.com/
I keep learning from following their ideas.

If the images on their sites strike you as they do me,
and you are interested in collaborating to create something inspired by their work,
let’s talk about working together to make this happen.

My Avatar here:
My avatar is a portrait of Daitan, a German Shepherd who taught me more about courage in the last 18 months of his life than any human that I have ever known. He had "Lou Gehrig's" disease, which denied him the use of his back legs. But once he was in a doggie wheel chair, he just keeping on going and going, never complaining, always taking each day in stride.

I use his portrait here as a way of saying thanks to him.
For more about this, see the photo essay "My Pack and I" on the "About Roelf" page on my website.

I have shot seriously for decades.

I make my most of  living as an investigator and creator of e-learning programs. Some of my photography work provides input for the e-learning couses I create

Now I am re-engaging in my true passion: photography. I think of myself as an artist with a camera.
