MM’s members support breast cancer charities
Model & Photographer: Cyndi Salata
Many MM models and photographers “gave back” to their communities when they helped victims of breast cancer. The MM members submitted their work to be used in the “Breast Cancer Benefit Calendar.” Many of the models and photographers have personally had breast cancer affect their lives, which made the calendar a true labor of love. Organized by Peach Jones, the calendar includes numerous beautiful women that can be looked at for an entire year. As people look at photos of beautiful models like Jackie Sexton, Rosealee Jean, and Victoria Peachey, they can feel good that 100% of the proceeds from their purchase went towards supporting breast cancer charities. Photos in this calendar are PG, with a couple being PG-13. Peach Jones is currently organizing a new breast cancer charity calendar for models interested in submitting nude photos. Please contact Peach Jones if you’re interested in being part of it.

No age limit on beauty
Most people have this misconception that a model’s career is over before she is 25. That may have been the case several years ago, and still is in some markets, but we have seen more and more opportunities arise for older models. For example, this article features 61-year-old Cindy Joseph, who did not start modeling until she was 49. In the article, she is also referred to as “the champion of the pro age movement” with aims to help women overcome the negative aspects of aging. Cindy can be seen in ads for Coldwater Creek and Lands’ End.
MM’s Priscilla Caripan scores cover of DSS Magazine
Congratulations to Model Mayhem’s Priscilla Caripan who is on the October cover of Spain’s DSS Magazine. In addition to being on the cover, she also has a 15-page spread in the magazine. Priscilla is a gorgeous model with quite a few publications under her belt. Model Mayhem’s Eikona shot the image. Here is what he had to say about his success on getting Priscilla’s photos published: “I’ve never had such a streak of publications in such a short time.” We wish them both all the best!
Tyra’s new TV show
According to this Huffington Post article, supermodel and TV host Tyra Banks will have a new TV series called “Fivehead.” The name Fivehead is apparently given to people with a large forehead and the show will document her life as a bullied high school teen with low self-esteem. However, instead of feeling sorry for herself and her past, Tyra will take a humorous attitude towards everything that happened to her as a teen. There have been many instances of celebrities whose classmates used to torment them in school and it is great to see people overcome bullying to succeed later in life. Success is the best revenge because the greatest pleasure in life is doing things that others say you cannot do.
Karl Lagerfeld’s take on skinny models
Even though many big name fashion designers have taken steps to use models with more realistic looking bodies in their advertisements and shows, Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld stated that fashion “models are not too skinny.” Karl’s exact statement on fashion models can be found in this ABC news article. A while ago, Karl referred to Adele as a little too fat. He also maintained that there are more obese and overweight women out there than there are anorexic women. Statistically, he is correct in the sense that there are more overweight women in the USA than there are anorexic girls. This is evident because the article indicates that “according to the US Department of Health and Human Services sixty percent of adult women in the U.S. are considered overweight, and just over one-third of those are obese.” However, either extreme is not healthy and women should aim to maintain their health.
