Modeling news roundup
August 13, 2012
This week’s highlights: America’s Olympic medal winning models, Marlen Esparza and Dotsie Bausch; MM’s Vanessa Lake on the cover of People magazine, Lauren Calaway on the cover of Nailpro; and more…
Model and Olympic medal winning boxer, Marlen Esparza
Marlen Esparza is not just the pretty face seen in Cover Girl cosmetics commercials. She is an American boxer who became the first U.S. woman to win an Olympic boxing match and she “claimed the first American boxing medal,” winning bronze in London.
Marlen clearly has what it takes to succeed after proving she can compete with the best in one of the most competitive and demanding sports in the world. We wish her continued success modeling.
Dotsie Bausch – from anorexic model to Olympic medalist
Can you believe that American Olympic cyclist and silver medalist Dotsie Bausch used to be a very thin runway model suffering from anorexia and battling drug addiction? At the age of 14, Dotsie won a modeling contest for Seventeen Magazine where she did a shoot in California and her career took off from there. But, as her modeling career blossomed she battled severe anorexia and began abusing drugs.
However, Dotsie overcame both and went on to win the silver medal at the Olympics. Her transformation and success is an inspiration to many, and Dotsie is more than just an athlete or a model, she is a role model.
MM’s Vanessa Lake scores cover of People Magazine
Model: Vanessa Lake
Congratulations to Model Mayhem’s Vanessa Lake on her recent cover of People Magazine, Australian edition. In addition to her cover, she has been widely published in the past. Vanessa has a beautiful face, gorgeous red hair, and fantastic posing ability. We certainly look forward to seeing more of her in the future!
MM’s Ana Braga and Skyler Haze in Biker Beauties Magazine
Congratulations also to Model Mayhem’s Ana Braga and Skyler Haze on their recent shoot for the September issue of Biker Beauties Magazine. Ana and Skyler are often referred to as the “dream twins,” and it’s not surprising as they are both gorgeous, hard-working and are taking big strides towards industry success. These girls rock!
MM’s Lauren Calaway scores cover of Nailpro Magazine
Model: Lauren Calaway
Model Mayhem’s Lauren Calaway is often referred to as “travel size supermodel,” and for a good reason. Despite standing at only 5’2″, she has been a part of advertising campaigns and publications that many taller models only dream of. She is living proof that if you show your marketability and are dedicated to your craft, you can succeed in this industry. Now, she can add the cover of Nailpro Magazine to her extensive list of credits. Congratulations, Lauren!
