About Me

My Purpleport address, where I've focused more of my attention these days is:

http://purpleport.com/portfolio/evergreenphotography/?

Okay, here's the bio...(yawn!):

I love the art of photography, and love the dance of light as it plays across our daily lives. About 15 years ago, I was a professional news and magazine photographer, working for the Associated Press in Manhattan, then for the Los Angeles Times in, well, Los Angeles, of course! I burned out pretty hard, having my creative vision pulled in so many directions, so, sold my equipment and walked away from it all. But the love of light I developed never went away.

So this said, I am learning about working with models and fashion, but I'm not a beginner! I am finding that I enjoy the banter, and the collaborative search for a good image. If you like to work together to create, I think we will work together. I prefer an artistic approach, and value models who do.

Now that I have decided to jump back in, I want to challenge myself to grow in new directions. Over the years away from professional work, I have done lots of photography, mostly the kind of stuff you might find in National Geographic, or Rock and Ice. I have done some travel photography, and adventure sports, from Beijing to Nepal, from Peru to London. All over the place, really, I've been keeping my eye open. Being far away, or up high on a cliff doesn't phase me. Still, I find working with a beautiful model, in a studio, in artificial light, challenges me creatively. I want to master this, so if you are interested, I would love to work with you.

What's a light addicted person to do? I have decided to challenge myself to learn to work with models, using both natural and artificial light. I'm new to that whole line of work. I asked myself, what kinds of photos would you like to make with your free time, and the answer was clear. I really want to work with the human figure. I love the way light passes over the human body, outlining a hip, or a hand, or a cheekbone. I think I am interested in doing boudoir photography, where the model is wearing the light as a first or second layer. Lately, the photos I've seen on Model Mayhem are beautiful, and I want to use light to paint images that are fun, flirty, sexy, and human. I guess I need to find confident models who have experience doing this! I also am interested in full wool outdoor fashion shoots too, so don't hesitate to poke me, especially if you want to shoot outside in the winter!

Let's work together. I'm looking for people who are patient, fun, and kind! Let's work together, I love to share all the photos from the shoot, and am learning how to more quickly retouch photos in Photoshop, which I have been using for years.

Please like my brand new Facebook page, too!!!

I hope you will get in touch.
