Fastest way to get a list of commercial agencies in New York? Have her go to a fashion agency, they will say: "No, but thanks for coming. Here's a list of the commercial agencies in New York." It's quickest way they have of getting you out the door. ("And so Don Pardo, do we have some parting gifts for our lovely former contestant?")

Not sure where you got that, but one of the agencies is a scam, and one has been out of business for years.

There are a dozen or so which specifically are labeled "commercial".

Hey TXPhotog, thanks for the info. I didn't know that MMG was a scam and that the other agency was out of business. I got the list by logging in to Models.com, and typing "commercial" in the search box. Then I just copied and pasted the listing info into my previous post.
Is anyone aware of any other scams from the list? Also, do you think BBB.org (better business bureau) is a good place to look for agencies (both commercial and fashion).
Thanks to anyone who responds.

The trouble with that is the definition of the word "commercial" (which the OP provides no guidance on). Sometimes it means "commercial fashion", and sometimes it means "commercial print". Any time you get fashion agencies and commercial print agencies on the same list (which is what happened in that case), it's not clear what the list is a list of anymore.
Absolutely not. The BBB is a terribly unreliable resource. If they say there are problems with a company, it's likely very bad. If they say there are no problems, they still could be very bad. Never trust a BBB report.

I'm shocked that McDonald Richards is out of business. I thought this was still a top commercial print agency. Do you know what happened with them? Also, do you know anything about Grace Del Marco?

Thanks TXPhotog! I've noticed that about BBB as well. I personally am looking for commercial print agencies, or agencies with a commercial print division in NYC, that are reputable of course.
I've found that sites like the BBB, and business directory sites (like yellow pages and 411) just give an address and business name, but no detailed information. One day I sat down and went through 100 of the "commercial, print and talent" agencies listed on the BBB in the NYC area. Some numbers were invalid, some places couldn't provide a client list or model references, and some places actually hung up when I asked for references! I even checked out a book called the "New York City Model Agency Directory"; the only problem-it hasn't been updated in 9 years!
Aside from the following sites:
and posts in forums such as these, do you (or anyone) know were I can find a reliable listing of commercial print agencies in New York?
Thanks again for your help

I would imagine most of the better agencies did that. Stop it. It is NOT done in the mainstream agency world. Do you really think an agency is going to give out client or contact information so random aspiring models can call for references? One of the primary responsibilities of an agency is to protect their models and clients from things like that.

Thanks again for your input. I'll check those books out.
Happy Holidays, and take care.
