I'm curious; are "Daisy Duke" cut-off shorts the type of clothing made from actually modifying an old pair of jeans, or is this something that is designed and sold retail?

You can cut off jeans and make a pair or you can buy them already short.

Are there any particular labels or retail stores you would recommend?

I'm sure the originals were made by cutting off old jeans, then they started being made that way.

They were called Daisy Dukes cus of that old 70's TV show The Dukes of Hasard. Daisy Dukes wore a short cut off jeans that showed off her but just perfect for them days And them Duke boy really like their cousin Daisy Dukes wearing them. They made a fashion statement due to the popular 70's mini skirt or mini shorts The Daisy Dukes where the Girls next door cheep style of cut off jeans.

I hope that answered your questions and yes some of the guys also wore Daisy dukes lol Fuck i sure did and i was not gay well then that is lol

Great idea... This is obviously something I wouldn't recommend doing to a perfectly good pair of Diesel jeans!

I actually remember watching a bit of a behind the scenes bit on the new Dukes of Hazard movie. The shorts were a pair of really high end jeans that were made specifically for Jessica Simpson. They were then altered by the wardrobe department under the advice of a professional designer (big name, can't remember who)

You certainly won't find a pair like that in a store. Best bet is probably to get a pair that is a size or two too small and cut them off. Tight fit, but I think that is the idea, right?

Go for used jeans.  The older the better.

No 'cause on sets they're pretty thrifty and shot at second hand stores for quite a bit of their clothing.  So I say scissors and old jeans made here!

I make my own smile

Put them on, make a mark, how short you want them, cut below that line,, cut a curve ( this helps make your but look nice) assuming u want some cheek hanging out.. lol.

put them in the wash so they fray a bit smile.

Apparently, it would be better for me to recruit models who already have them in their wardrobes based on the following article someone else sent me on MM...

http://girlinshortshorts.blogspot.com/2 … horts.html

"...there is no way they can be properly manufactured in a factory. Every single pair of daisy dukes is as unique as a set of fingerprints (or perhaps I should say ass cheeks)."

I'd work with you, if I were living in Canada! smile

Brilliant, I ripped a hole in the knee of a pair of designer jeans and have been feeling horribly morose since!
Now they can have a second life as short shorts tongue

I don't understand why people buy designer pre-ripped jeans.. are they doing it just for the label? Or can they not be bothered or too dumb to figure out all you need to do is cut or rip any jeans?
