On a recent weekend visit to Manitou Springs my wife and I came upon a "fair trade" boutique "Back to the Roots." We love the philosophy behind this concept/movement and I'm always on a look for interesting wardrobe. Well, they have all sorts of things from all over the world - Africa, Asia - that looked interesting and quite fashionable. I spoke to the owners about doing a photo shoot with their stuff. They were happy to help out (they just recently opened and could use some images as well.) So, we did a shoot at the Garden of the Gods with a young, 17-year-old new model from Colorado Springs. Morgan was great to work with. We started with MU at @ 6 a.m. and finished the shoot at @ 5 p.m. all without a break. All in all we did 8 looks - wardrobe and MU change on location while battling the weather. Here are some of the pictures from our shoot. I had one MUA paint him like a bird with feathers and black mud all over him for a video, he played the part of a bird very well. I find him to be a little exotic looking... almost beautiful. In short, these programs are for NEWbie Models - this means beginning models, not models who are new to MM or any other site. If a model states that (s)he is "Experienced" or "Very Experienced", quotes rates or lists compensation as "Paid Only" or has credits including commercial, runway or tear sheet work, they can not be considered beginner models and are not eligible for this contest. There is a Model of the Week contest that is the appropriate venue for these more experienced models. Give the newbs a chance, OK? Please note that the same basic rules apply to the Please Just Shoot Me list - this isn't intended to be casting calls for experienced models but rather a tool to help beginners build their books. These photos are from a casual test shoot around Dartford, Kent (UK). It was only her second shoot and her first 'model' shoot. I very seldom invite people I meet on the street to do a photo shoot, but Stacia's smile as I was leaving pushed me over the edge and I gave her my card.
