Craigslist?
Have you posted any ads looking for models? Have you gotten any models off craigslist? I posted one just for the hell of it, and got crap as far as quality goes... girls that just had this random want to "model" - although I found one that I think may have the potential for it, and hell, as long as I get what I want do I really care if she ever does it again? Although I believe she's going to drive me bananas! I keep getting the same email, is this free, are you charging me for this - and I explain TF 923847298 times. Randomly I get an email telling me she's bringing her husband. I told her OK, but if he thinks he's going to tell me anything about anything but my shoes are untied I'm ending it where ever we are. OH - and the best email yet "SO HOW ARE WE GONNA GET MONEY?" - do I look like a "manager"... good lord. I foresee this as a mistake lol. Anyway... your stories? One of the MM ones showed, the other 2 didnt. Both CL ads showed up. And I'm working out things with 2 more CL's as well. Both seem very promising. Having said that, I have noticed that perhaps 60% of the models who respond to my CL ads also have MM profiles. Oct 13 09 05:04 pm Link Well i have done this several times and have had pretty good luck, now don't get me wrong out of about 15 women that responded to the add only 3 were what i was looking for. But from my experience on craigslist YES you will get a lot of amateurs but in my opinion that isn't always a bad thing as i myself would rather shoot amateurs as there easier to work with and a bit more appreciative of the work you produce, but again that's my opinion lol. I'd rather hunt for models at closing time for bars, than use Craigslist. Only because personally my experience with dealing with anyone there makes eBay look like a nice place to buy from. Last few times got one good response each time I posted an ad, but my last posting has gotten about 10 responses and I've already shot two of the girls. All TFCD, all have done nude work. But I've come across scams that I didn't know were scams til I said I wanted to work for them... Then I had to block them from my email. I get good and bad. I post an ad there looking for models once a year or so. Of course, I get many more flakes than people I actually end up working with, but that's the way it always is. My avatar is a CL model, wonderful to work with and probably one of my better. actually, now that I look, most of my portfolio currently is CL models; while some of the models are MM models, i found them through CL first. The wording of an ad has something to do with what kind of talent you attract. Similarly, if you spoke in your ad the way you do in the post, you might not have attracted the best talent. Oct 13 09 06:24 pm Link The first model I shot with and a couple of others came from Craigslist. The first one was great, and she turned me on to Model Mayhem. I haven't used Craigslist since those first few shoots. I will say that I didn't have any flakes from Craigslist and all of the models I shot were pretty good. Of course, you get plenty of bad models replying, but it is easy to weed those out based on their response and the samples/links they send. I've found on CL I tend to find more unusual/alternative models and more models willing to try something a bit more eccentric than on MM. Just like on MM, you do get what you pay for. If professionalism and reliability are paramount for the shoot, I'd suggest a reliable agency over MM or CL. In my mind, if you're on CL you're probably a new model with little or no experience, and if I'm going to pay a model it's probably not going to be an inexperienced model (the rational is that an experienced model would probably be agency represented and or have other means of finding work other than CL) Oct 13 09 06:40 pm Link MM is loaded with flakes - probably worse than CL IMHO. Oct 13 09 06:41 pm Link looks like it depends where you are, being in the suburbs of the suburbs of suburban Seattle it works for me. Sounds like the bigger the city the less it works?? Or something like that. One of my models from cl is here now and won a photoshoot with Billy Pegram using one of the pics from our session. I have also booked a gig from Robert Adler from craigslist. I think it is a great resource. I don't know how good it is if you are not interested in fetish gigs though. Typically people on craigslist will pay more than on model mayhem where they just send out mass inquiries for trade shoots.
