I had a question about a magazine that maybe someone can answer. On Monday I submitted myself to Maverick Illustrated Magazine, and I got a call the very next day. They said I had a great look and they went on to tell me that if I wanted to be full time its 60k and up a year. They told me they traveled alot and all the hotel/plane/food ect would be paid for and I would receive an additional $1000. They wanted to see more unedited photos of myself before we went any further. At this point I'm stoked and so happy that finally I'm getting a chance to be in a Magazine....
I contacted a photographer I just shot with asking if I could have some unedited photos and when he asked for what magazine he said They where a rip off and weren't an actual magazine.
So as of now I'm not sure what to do... Has anyone ever modeled for them?
What was your experience?

No, this is not legit.
No real magazine employs one model on a annual salary.
No real magazine states on it's website that it is a new publication and giving away free issues of it's magazine, and then also advertises a pin up modelling contest with 1 million dollar prize money :p

Maverick Illustrated is like Playet magazine. Despite being around for several years, neither magazine is real. Neither has ever been published, neither will ever be published. They are run by guys that are more interested in trying to impress naive young, women than putting out a real publication.
Sadly, many females fall for the bullshit claims that these guys are famous for and them miss out on REAL opportunities with legitimate companies.
It should also be noted that when you view the Maverick Illustrated website, they have all kinds of claims of fame and fortune... from million dollar bikini contests to investment banking services, the publications, model management company, airlines, the broadcast networks... and a whole bunch of other fake claims....
... yet they don't display ANY contact information such as mailing address, phone number, or even which state they're located in. What are they hiding?
He also displays how many page hits the website gets... about 28 hits on an average day... does 28 hits seem like a number that an important, worldwide, international conglomorate website would have??? Hell, you've probably had more people read this post in the first half hour that it was up than he's had visit his website in a week!
Best advice, stay away.

I talked to the same guy, he actually put my picture on the site and since I refused hasn't removed it. It's not 'hurting' me but its pretty silly.
When I spoke to him he went on and on about there 'playboy like parties' and if I was comfortable 'partying' and being nude.

I applied with them a year or two ago and he told me I was required to be an affiliate with them selling the mag subscriptions in order to model and when I said I wasn't interested he proceeded to put me down and said I wasn't cut out for modeling and didn't have the right personality and basically ended up hanging up on me.

YES i have been contacted by the same magazine by some guy called Dustin Cole.
Hello Talent, how is your weekend? Your portfolio on modelmayhem was
interesting and i really like it, although i do not have an account on
there but i would like to work with you on a pay fashion shoot coming
up in Sydney. Please let know if you want more details about the job.
Basically I asked for the usual date, time, location, purpose of shoot, style, requirements, etc. He hit me back with a silly looking letter with an address and phone number. I am not one to be fooled (I was close before once.. but that's another story, I actually received AMEX traveler's cheques in my mailbox but THANK GOD i read up some info on the government's website about internet frauds and scams n found out i was a "MULE" so threw the cheques in the bin!), so i looked up the address and also the magazine.
YOU GIRLS R RIGHT!
First i thought the mag was real n this dumb guy just randomly referred to it but now that i've read all this IT IS ALSO FAKE! I actually sent them a message telling them I've been contacted by what seems to be an internet fraud. Now i know they r both fake altogether!!!
I also looked up the address n found the developer company of the claimed address
(:1180 Avenue Of The Americas, NY,NY) n also emailed them warning about their property being referred to in a scam.
WOW! close one.... WATCH OUT girlies!! too many fraudsters out there in the modeling world.

This is what I got from Maverick magazine, make sure you look at the part where he asks me to cash checks and send the money to some "Supervisor" and then they'll "Pay me back". Scamming bastards. Thank god I'm not some new model starting and desperate, or I might have taken it.
Thanks for getting back to me, hope you and your families are well, and I really appreciate your anticipated response in regards to this opportunity, I have gone through your portfolio and I would love to work with you. Please go through the details of the job and if you would like to sign up, let me know so that I will forward you the application form.
DATE AND TIME:
This shooting is going to be held on 27th and 28th of this month in Chicago, IL, USA. The shooting will commence by 10:00am and comes to an end by 3:00pm which would take us complete 5 hours. At least you will have enough time to prepare yourself.
This project is all about an upcoming shoot for Maverick Illustrated Magazine that will be used for billboards and catalogs while some of the photo shoot will be uploaded as web pictures. Photo shoots would be done in Casual, Fashion and Glamor, Lifestyle and Promotional Modeling. No nude, all we need are descent shoots. The duration of use of these pictures would not be more than 12 months.
All traveling Expenses, Food and Accommodations/Hotel would be covered by my company. As a matter of choice, you are allowed to come with not more than a companion; we will be able to take care of all your expense.
MAKE UP ARTIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER:
The company has personal photographers and makeup artist, so we have made all necessary arrangement for your good looking on that day and also our photographers are available to give you best directive. You are not required to do any make up on your own because the company has provided makeup artist to cover that aspect.
We do issue part payment of $400 upfront just to get the models prepared before shooting together with the supervisor payment, we are very sorry for including the supervisor payment to your own part-payment just because we donât have enough time on this shoot. As soon as you get the check just deduct your part-payment $400 and send the remaining fund to the supervisor. The company promise to compensate you for your running around. I hope this is clear and understood? Immediately after the shoot you will get your balance in cash
Check http://www.wardrobe54.com for some of my works. Also the company website is http://www.maverickmag.com/
Basically they will just pay me 400.00 to cash a bogus check for them, not a bad deal, but highly illegal.

Girl's please be very careful in dealing with this maverickmag.com, they are fake and scammers and might even be dangerous to girl's. I have been having issues with them for 2 yrs now. There is no way to contact them except through email, no phone number, no address, nothing. I have found at least 5 different name's they have used and nobody really knows where they are located. They promise girl's million dollar contest's and now they have said nobody is getting the money that they are producing a reality TV show, which is false advertisement and highly illegal of them. Stay away from this site and pray to god you don't get suckered in like they tried to do me. Hopefully god protects me from these people because I have already submitted my pics to them over 2 1/2 yrs. ago.

So, are any of you reporting them to the government? Or just allowing this to continue by ignoring it?
At least contact 60 minutes with links to threads like this. I'm sure 60 minutes would love this story.

I was just contacted by the same guy and I was kind of hesitant on the fact when he spoke he wanted to know to much info about me. I know places need to know things but not really personal details, so that gave me the red flag right there. I've been through plenty of BS to just fall for them with out researching first.
If anyone trys out for them they are fake I don't like they way they sound on the phone so what makes you think they are real in person. I'm not flying anywhere with strangers that I feel seem suspicious.
I'm moving on..
