If a guy photog advertises he does nudes, I don't take him seriously until I see he shoots guys too.

Good for you.

Why do we care about your opinion again?

Do you have the same feelings about fashion photographers, or is it penis specifically that makes a photographer "serious"?

What about female photographers who only shoot male nudes?

Or gay male photographers who only shoot male nudes?

What about penguins?!

You obviously cared enough to respond back Elizabeth. wink

I just joined, and yes I am new, but the fifty offers from photographers to shoot in my inbox, 99% came off as shady.

I'm defensive, LA has me pensive.

I think I understand the logic you are using. Something like if he won't shoot guys nude too, he must be only interested in seeing naked girls.

While this can be true, there are many, many, many photographers who only shoot female nudes are exceptionally talented and trustworthy. I myself would place more importance on the quality of their work, communication skills, and perhaps good references.

get over it, because you'll need more defined, rational reasoning skills to get by than what you're currently employing..

Thanks, most of them were done by male photographers who only shoot females.

In seriousness, you just signed up, you do nudes, and you're gorgeous, so yes, you are going to get some GWC offers. The criteria of not having shot male nudes is kind of silly though. Use your brain about things, check references, listen to your gut, and remember, not everyone is out to get in your drawers.

FYI Op,  I shoot nudes. I have yet to shoot any guys. Why? Have yet to find a concept that works, since most of what I do is vintage themed.

Does that make me shady? Creepy? Nope.

Its generalizations that are bad. You pick and choose the gold from the BS that hits your inbox. You should know that of course being a new model people are going to wanna swoop in and send you a cheesy pm or a genuine PM. Its up to you to figure out whats what.

Nudity doesnt always equal sex or sexuality.

You are entitled to your own (insane) opinion.

I shoot nudes.  When I close my eyes to plan an image, I see a female form.  The male form doesn't appeal to me, and I don't / can't envision a male nude image that's worth my time.  Don't get me wrong -- more power to those who do male nudes; it's just not my cup of tea.  I am serious but creating nude art.

So, if you don't want to work with me, that's fine -- there are plenty that do.

That's kinda like saying that we can't take Mick Jagger seriously if he doesn't sing opera.

You think if I am only interested in female nudes, I am not legit.  Reason follows that a disinterest in male nudes on my part make my work fraudulent.  Your thinking is clouded, and suggests more about your own lack of seriousness than anyone else's.

I would shoot males, but I could never find one who could pull off a hand jock and well as females pull off a hand bra

Seems like its just a matter of opinion, some people just believe the female body is a work of art. I don't think you should limit yourself just because a photographer doesn't shoot or doesn't have nudes of males. Its just there style. If you looking to shoot nudes then just weed out the shady guys/GWC and ask for references. If your not then this post doesn't really matter.

I would also like to add that penis and vajayjay are not the prettiest part of the body and IMO should be kept out of pics.

While the penis is a lot harder to do so when shooting nude. Because a female model can simply cross her legs to create a classy V without exposing beefy meat curtains. Male models just can not do this and the hand covering does not look as fluid as a hand bra. Besides MOST men do not have parts that will fit in one hand so it just makes it look like everything is pancaked and coming out of the sides lol

So that being said classy good, beefy meat curtains bad:)

When I see a singer from Long Beach, CA, who sings, for example, pop, and not opera or bluegrass or heavy metal or polka or Tuvan throat singing, I don't take her seriously. Because she should be ready willing and able to sing ALL types of music at any time, even if she doesn't like them. She should advertise that she can sing all types of music, she should study to be able to sing all types of music, and she must never ever refuse any offer to sing all types of music. Otherwise she's just a poseur.

I don't photograph male nudes, but I haven't taken  myself very seriously for years.

So... it evens out, because I don't take many models very seriously either.

I don't shoot nudes (yet) but I'd probably only shoot females. And I'm a young woman! I just find the female form more attractive for art.

Give it time, you'll figure out who is real or who is not.  I have a set of dangly bits floating upside down in my portfolio.  I don't think that makes me good or bad.

I shoot nudes, females and some males, but I also went on Jimmy Kimmel Live and sang about my dog.  I don't sing opera though.  Now I am confused!  Am I strange or not?

absolutely I take someone with me.

I have worked in the music industry for 12 years and met plenty of wannabe producer types more interested in my chest than my voice.

Thanks for the compliments, I am sure there a few legit guys out there, but I am looking for better work with or without my ta-tas showing.

I am just not immediately going to deny an opportunity if it's a good one.
