So I just went digging into the OMG's past.  We have quite the history. You know, we're going into our 6th year?

It's fun and sad to see which people are still around and which aren't.

Thanks, George. A great summer primer!

Some are here, some are gone. Summer time.

Sometimes I feel like the Old Man and the Sea, waiting for that big fish to come along

I just posted four new images from my shoot Sunday. It's been more than a year since I have added anything new to my portfolio. Geez, I feel like such a newb. I forgot how much work it is to shoot and edit. Yeah, six weeks into the new year and I finally do a shoot. I hope this is a sign of things to come. Like lots more shooting and editing.

Hemingway's fishing buddy, the fellow he wrote the book about. Didn't he pass away just a few years ago?

When I was growing up we used to go to the twin 125's every year
My dad's friend "Van Newberry" was a huge Nascar fan, used to listen on the radio if he could not attend the races

I remember driving over and having to stop at a K-Mart to buy socks because it was so damn cold

We always sat on the 4th corner
That's where all the wrecks happened and you could see down the left side from 3 to 4 as well as down the front straight to the Finish line

One year I was there when one of the cars blew an engine right as he was coming off 4. It blew the hood off the car and about 200 feet straight up in the air

Some wild shit back in the day there

I miss going to the 125's but back then the tickets were like $10

Now I guess they are probably $100

The "Danica Does It" thread pretty much covered the race topic.

Well, Saturday's race was sure a lot more fun than Sunday's  .  .  .  kinda boring until the last two or three laps  .  .  .  likin' the new noses on the cars ta try and make 'em look "stock", now if they jest let 'em sneak some "secret" engines in ta blast passed everyone, it'd make it more exciting  .  .  .  at least Toyota didn't win the Great American Race  .  .  .  wink

Well, here we are at Friday again. Glad you all could be here to share it with me.

Tomorrow it's back over to Titusville and helping the team finish replacing the cylinder on the left engine of the B-25. When that's done the airplane will be ready for the VAC airshow in two weeks and my photo shoot in three weeks.
