Is Penthouse really all that big a deal these days? I wouldn't think that its circulation is all that big, at this point in time.

Go for it.

It will be good for your career.  I don't see the downside.

I don't understand the fear of being ASKED to do porn or anything else you don't want to do. What's to be afraid of saying no? How can being asked to do something be offensive? I don't get it. Most of us photographers get asked to shoot weddings all the time. I don't do weddings but it doesn't offend me that they asked.

OP, you asked for pros and cons:

Pros: Money, perhaps lots of it.
        A new business contact
Possible opportunities within your comfort zone in the future

Cons: Since you are already a nude model, and very talented, I can't see a con. If you someday want to work as a teacher or several other jobs then it would be a con but you already have nude images that will live forever online.

Obviously you are ready physically, you are stunningly beautiful. But the way you responded to a guy who posted out of concern for you makes me wonder if you are emotionally mature enough to make a good choice.

I would have to agree 100% on this.

Penthouse can open more doors for your career than anything else you can be doing right now.

I strongly recommend doing that, more than Playboy these days

The opportunities I see the Penthouse models taking advantage of are not to be found elsewhere.

Lets not pretend we havent all seen the "model shot nudes, but wont shoot nudes with me, wah wah wah" and "model has erotica in her port but will only do fine art with me, wah wah wah" threads in the forums.

Not only will you get a lot of porn offers, you'll get a lot of complaints when you turn them down. You may also see a decrease in your art/glam bookings, because theyd RATHER book you for porn or nothing at all.

hmmm, Good point!

Pros - National exposure, money, bigger opportunities, more fans.
Cons - Increased offers for more explicit content, increased critics, more spam.

Why have you resisted them up to this point? Is that answer still relvant? What has changed in your life to now consider the offer? These are questions you have to answer and then decide what you want to do. Either way, I wish you luck.

Window of opportunity is small while you are young. Go for it.
I'd also go for the porn too if I were you. Cash in now while you have the body and are young. Can't do it when your 40

Penthouse no longer has the cutting edge rep it had in regards to female nudity as it did in the 70's. I have not even looked at Penthouse for who knows how many years, at least 10. I guess you can go for the money. You are attractive enough to say yes or no and still have avenues open to you.

Hey hon,
Not sure why you're asking this question as bottom line, only you can answer if you should do it or not.  But to answer your post...

Pros:
1) Exposure
2) Good Paycheck
3) Exposure
4) Good networking opp
5) Exposure
6) Will definitely get a lot of work from it after
7) did I mention Exposure???

Cons
1) we still live in a puritanical country and (right or wrong) you will be labeled an adult entertainer forevermore in many people's eyes.
2) your inbox will be overflowing, you'll never be able to answer everyone (is this really a con???)
3) You'll be totally exposed to the world
4) Your family and children will find out eventually
5) I wouldn't be able to afford to work with you again....lol

Not sure it helps my dear, but as one who cares.  Its your choice to make...  I know you're a tough cookie, but if you do chose to do it, you know your limits.  Stick to them & only do what you want to do.

My Best Always

Thanks for all the questions but MY question was what are the PROS AND CONS.. not who contacted me. I also am a paid nude model so therefore it would be going an extra step! It's a pretty simple equation, nude models might go erotic, erotic might go hard core, get it? I do know it's obviously about comfort level...

His line of questions might be saving you from a big con.

Pros:

- Exposure

- Money

- If you're a hit, standing at trade shows signing autographs

Cons:

- You will be pigeonholed into the "harder" side of adult material.  Once you take that step into that world, there really is no going back.

- It could adversely affect your day job (or any future day job you might want.)

- If you're a hit, standing at trade shows signing autographs

Playboy is so much classier in my opinion. Others may or may not agree but penthouse is....not so classy. Also, if your don't want to do porn...I wouldn't because it may ruin your chances of doing other non-porn work in the future...like if you want to do an acting gig where you have to play a nun...you probably wont get the part if you've done penthouse

Ken (above) has good advice - he has shot for both long term.
If you have a firm offer go for it.

While there is some social prestige difference, photography in Playboy and Penthouse (under the new current owners) is not very different. Both companies still have to attract advertisers and they have their limits on what their ads are associated with.  There are models who do work for both.

It's only the Playboy Centerfold gig that pays decent money (and only 12 per year - with a no nudes for anyone else contract) if you are not a celebrity, everything else is day rated.  There are Penthouse models attending Playboy parties.
One Penthouse model has followed with the cover of Brides.

Publicity appearances are often for the same gigs with either company - Cable TV conventions, autograph signings, Guy Stuff car shows etc.

Besides - the economy is poor and what else are you going to do.

The above is the best advice on here to date.

Personally, I think your images are classy and beautiful. A lot of what I've seen from Penthouse is pretty tasteless. It seems like a step down IMHO. Especially if it's not a style you're willing to do again. Why send out the wrong message?

Playboy would be a much better option for you, I think.

Remember you can always so no to any offer anybody makes you after you do Penthouse. You have to just ask yourself period if this is what you want to be seen in. The magazine will bring you all kinds of exposure and can open lots of doors for you that you may never had a chance for before. So you just need to answer that question for yourself.

Penthouse isn't "Teenage Trailer-Park Totty" - while not to everyone's taste it's one of the market leaders and will be viewed as a significant milestone in a model's career.

If you do nude work already, it's more a question of why would you not want to be paid for appearing in a national publication (plus there's no reason to think if the images are good enough, that you wouldn't appear in the international versions also)... this is your job, right?

If you have to ask, the answer is no.

SOMETHING inside of you is saying no, which is why you're asking- because something inside of you is not 100 percent on board with saying yes.

If it's money, don't even take that into account when making your decision.

Money is paper.  It's bullshit.  You spend it and it's gone.  Your body of work lasts forever.

Yes, but that voice inside her may be the little nagging uninformed one that keeps her from getting all the things she really wants.  You know, the voice that says things like.... don't masturbate cause you'll go blind!

Big A, this is a girl who's already shooting that content and posting it on the internet for all to see.... it's not a moral issue.

I see nothing in her profile that comes close to what she will shoot with Penthouse.

This is absolutely false. They used to be hardcore many years ago, but stopped with doing that content in 2003, I think. Now it's much like Playboy, only more edgy.

Pick up a Playboy and a Penthouse magazine.  Then see the difference between the two
Your nudes are artistic. Penthouse nudes are very erotic.  if that is o.k. with you, then do it.  The money is good along with people all of a sudden knowing who you are.  You may even get Howard Stern calling you to be on his radio show.  You will also get porn offers along with what is called soft porn offers.  You will know what to accept and not accept.   Let us all know what your decision is..
