Yeah, sorry, scam.  No one gets cast without applying and no one gets paid like that.

Beer company ads are strictly an agency affair.

Think about it - If you were in charge of a million dollar/euro ad campaign (including placement costs) which is going to be billed to the client anyway, would you try to save less than 1/10th of 1% of that budget by pinning it on an unknown model with a limited track record that you have not worked with before, that you saw on the internet?
It is not unusual for a "prime" location billboard to cost $1,000. per day or more.
Watch the commercials below.  There is too much at stake ($$) to take any production risks on something like this.

Here is one of their current commercials - full version - not the chopped down TV version.

Here's one of my favourite Heineken ads.  The song is Cosmonaut Petrov, by Igor and Red Elvises.

Not true.

Photographers often do their own castings and while many working commercial photographers DO use agencies, many do not.

That said, OP, YES, this is a scam.

As you have indicated that you received this through MM, you should save a Screen Capture of the message and send it to the Moderators via C.A.M. (Contact a Moderator) so that the scammer can be removed from the site.

IF this offer came from a Model Mayhem member it is very important that those who received it contact a moderator and report it at once. Very important.

I can't think of any reason any agency or co would try to find commercial models on MM .

Not to say there are not some here but not many -----

They may scout talent here but any commercial booking like that would be through an agency.  A case of - Who's your agent?

This is the classic "Advance Fee" scam also called the "Nigerian" scam.  Google these and learn how they work.

And start to learn the modeling business.  Read the information available to you on MM as a new model.  No one works like this.

Heineken is represented by a large ad agency who would be responsible for all that - Publicis Groupe's Starcom MediaVest.

It's also a bad sign that the company name is not Heineken Beer Bottle Company. You would think these scammers could have a little pride in their work. If you're going to be scum, at least be the best scum you can be.

Is it my imagination or has there been an increase in scam mail on MM as the forums seem to be full of people receiving  scam mail.

I wonder if this is possible. When a new member joins us. Be it model, photographer, retoucher...etc. Whatever, can a sentence be added to their auto welcome email or PM they get that reads something like.

We want to point out to you that as a new member of the most popular modeling site online you are going to be a target of people wanting to scam you. The first thing you should do is to read the scam tips in the "My Stuff" section of your profile.

"But also know this. NO company or agency anywhere on Earth EVER EVER hires a new, untested talent, sight unseen from any website. ANY offer is a scam and should be avoided at all costs or you will lose massive amounts of money. Always and without exception." Here is an example of the scam letter to avoid...."

And then show them the scam letter and then they are educated. Could we do that or am I just being overly protective?

The most easy way to see if it is scam or not is very simple:

I represent L & T modelling company

And the email is: [email protected]

First, just type www.dr.com and you'll know that it's not the L&T Modelling company.
Do I need to say more?
