My humble attempt. Thanks for the great photos!
I focused on removing nose hairs and reshaping the lips.

Well I appreciate the honesty. As you can see I'm a trained digital artist but I'm still learning retouching and practicing as much as I can to improve.
Sorry to dissappoint you, but this is a practice forum for most. I will not be asking for your images in the future, it looks like you're the type that only wants their pictures getting high-end retouching for free out of it.

I can already tell you that you're probably going to get a lot of flack for this. It might not be the critique forum but it isn't uncommon for you to get critiques on the examples you post in these contest forums and not all of them are flattering. I have direct experience with that. tongue Someone told me "I hate your style of beauty. You may use only if you do not credit me and don't post on Facebook as I have clients there." and at first I was pretty hurt and angry, but then I just let it slide, said thanks, and moved on trying to figure out what was so appalling about it to them.

Turns out from that I learned the D&B technique is most often used as opposed to skin blurring (who woulda thunk? Haha) And since then I crave, crave, CRAVE any negative critique. You take the negative critiques and apply them to your next picture as what to absolutely avoid doing. You take the flattering ones as a go ahead to use that technique again.

But the worst thing you can do is to get offended when you still are unsure of your particular skill in this area of post production. The best thing you can do is to perfect those certain areas that are flawed and then repost the picture. If you get a "Yes, that's MUCH better." then that's a big accomplishment and just moved you forward in your skill set needed to be a professional retoucher.

Constructive criticism should not make you feel this way in this business. It should make you stronger. If I where you I would take what he said and try and make it better instead of taking it personal. Art directors, etc will always have something to say and will want you to do/change things that you may disagree with. I'm not taking sides I just stating my opinion. I would rather someone tell me when something is wrong instead of letting me do the same mistakes. Look up dodge and burn videos on u tube to improve in this area. Your digital art is amazing! We all have room to grow. On the other hand I think he could of said what he thought a little nicer. Feel free to contact me and I can give you some tips on how to improve the skin. I have not mastered it but I can help you get it a little better.

You beat me too it but I agree. I have had directors rip photos apart that I thought where great.

"color spots and other ugly things" is not constructive criticism. It's just criticism and a rather unkind one. I've been taking constructive criticism for years and I know a good, helpful one when I see it. This was not it. This was just a photographer's discontent.

I thought he meant that there were still color spots and other ugly spots on the model's skin that you hadn't removed. Not a comment on any color spots or ugly spots that you yourself had created. If that is the case, the model ought to be more offended than you. But she probably wouldn't be because model's are used to they themselves (not just their skills) being completely gutted by criticism, and not all too kindly. Poor choice of words, to be sure. But that also is common. People in this business are not known for coddling or being very concerned for other's feelings, I've noticed. Just gotta shrug it off and most importantly take something from it.

I will also note that you did compliment the work done on the lips, so you weren't bashing their work by any means. I don't think you were in the wrong pointing out an area that needs improvement. You were actually doing a bit of a favor. Don't let it discourage you from giving your opinion to other retouchers if they put themselves out there to be critiqued in some way. Most will value your insight and opinions.

Dear Andreea, please don't be so mad at the guy... I'm pretty sure he did not mean to be mean at all... he just lacks some basic English language knowledge. I'm sure his "rudeness" is just "I dunno how to say this nicer" tongue

You're a great digital artist wink Thanks again for working on one of my pics.

I'm not. I was stating an opinion there, as much as he was entitled to his own before that.
I've moved on since. It's time for everyone else to move on as well.
