Kendra from Canada wrote: cancel the cheque....and when you advise the model that you did, tell her your professional relationship is over....don't trust her ever again, she knows damn well what type of boyfriend she has!! If she puts up a fuss, ask her what her boyfriend and the mom's names are so you can report the incident to the police. Then get a house alarm, they will be back!! (hope you got the licence plate in case anything further happens) OP: Listen to Kendra. She might also have friends that models and they will tell each other when you going to shoot (on different location etc). In that case, I am sure the boyfriend would be temped to drop by when you aren't at home.

Plus he'd be met by my chinese shar-pei who never lets anyone in the house. I keep him barricaded in the master bedroom when people are here, but he's loose when no one is home.

This is exactly what happened to a friend of mine ---he lost 8,000 to a crook that returned a week after being an "escort" . He had insurance and the police did catch the guy but it was not a good day for my friend.

Only someone with lack of brain cells would not call the police on someone who just tried to rob them. Nice job, now all the photographers out there that don't come to the MM forums and are in your area have something to look forward to because you were "nice" and let them go. Good one

Do the police kill them and erase them from the face of the earth? I'm sure he'd get out the same day, and I have no way of contacting all photographers that don't come here, so this is the best I can do.

A new boyfriend... that she lives with, right? I'd be far more inclined to believe that she didn't have a clue as to what was going on, IF she didn't live with him. I find it a bit curious that you are so adamant that she wasn't involved... and so against reporting this to police to prevent it from happening to your colleagues.

There is a possibility the police would search the house and potentially find stolen goods from others.

If he and his mother get arrested and you press charges, they will have a record and the next time they try to pull something like that they might actually serve some time. But clearly that won't happen, you just prefer to have thieves running around. I see what kind of world you like to live in. Cheers!

Aaaah, the llama herder with the bulge under the shirt syndrome. Been there, done that. I suggest this; also a great motivator to get models to hold a pose.

ChanStudio - OtherSide wrote: So you don't think the boyfriend might come back for second visit? His actions have nothing to do with her modeling with respect to her getting paid is my point. Unless you can prove a conspiracy, what do you think should happen? The OP got his material back, so at this point, all he can, and should do, is report the activity to the police. After all, he has the address of the model and live in dude.

He feels lucky that he got away with it. He saw an opportunity and went for it...he failed. If he really wanted it and gave it any thought, he would return another time when no one is home and break in and take it...he's clearly not too bright.

He is cocky enough to think he could get away with robbing him when his at home I don't see how he could step away from not going back and getting them since his ego is a little bruised already. Anything is possible. If he aint going back to him he is going to some other sucker and rob them because the OP thought he should have a heart and let the thief go. Smart!

Tony Lawrence wrote: Bill you are better then me. I would have called the police. Had him arrested and canceled the check. Odds are he'll do it again as there were no consequences. Maybe the model didn't know about her BF but she not you is responsible for him. He's free to rip other shooters off and maybe the next person won't notice until they have left. Its not too late to speak to the police and would strongly suggest you do. Tony as her employer there is a good chance that if he canceled the check for work performed she could sue him. She did not take anything, and he would have needed to call the police and file a report. The three of them can say, we never touched his stuff. Who can prove otherwise? Just like if my little sister steals my wallet I can't just go and sell her computer. Two people breaking the law does not a right make.

Plus around here calling the police does nothing. My town is so rural that there is no police department - Montague NJ - check and see. I would have to call a state trooper and wait all day. Then on top of all that, the model, who I know well and have worked with many times, was crying her eyes out screaming at her now ex-boyfriend saying what an asshole he is - which I was in total agreement, but I really was just happy to get my stuff back, and all the stress just made me really want it to be over and done with. I was so pissed off and stressed that it took whatever wits I had about me not to lace into that guy and send him to the hospital, which would not have been good. I swear he pissed his pants I was in his face ready to go to town on him. I'm hoping he learned his lesson like I did when I was his age.
