it's not the most obvious place to pick for a trip, no, but then following that logic a lot of countries would fall in that category... if you're looking for gorgeous, raw and romantic, then greenland, iceland and norway (especially up north) are the way to go. the nature is just incredible. but the US has some amazing nature as well, so... I don't know.

I think "unusual" for a lot of people often means "far away, not in reach". I doubt that countries like iceland and greenland are unusual for scandinavian people

I think the word "unusual" is throwing you off. I think she means places not commonly associated with tourism.
