Just had my First Flake experience. I've popped my flake cherry.

The model was a friends sister, who has done shoots before and because of my limitted time in the UK i needed someone short notice. arranged the shoot last night and shoot was supposed to be this afternoon.

Pretty much the standard excuses,  "im not feeling too good, i think i look gross, And i have so much to do"

to which my response was "why arrange a shoot if you were too busy to do it?, now i have even less time to find someone who takes modelling seriously"

no reply..

Sometimes models are actually dedicated....

Had a model who lived 90 miles from me contact me and said that she had gotten mad and hit her boyfriend really hard... but since he was a black belt, that wasn't a good idea.
Apparently he hit her back and she had three bruises. I told her if she felt good enough
to show up for the shoot because we'd had problems finding a time we could both do. She did, and I had the pleasure of re-touching her forehead, left shoulder and part of her back. The shoot was a total success and she worked very hard and did a great job.

I had a model not contact me for a shoot. When I asked her where she was she had "been in a car accident and couldn't find my contact details." I'd e-mailed the time, date, and place of the shoot... Check your e-mail?

The best ones I've gotten was when the photographer claimed that he showed up and couldn't get into the building and so he left. I had worked for 3 months on the garments for the shoot, had gone to the trouble of booking an amazing studio out of town, and had brought the models,  MUA, Hair, and assistant there. He never did explain why he never called us when he arrived and supposedly couldn't get in. We were incredibly fortunate that the photographer who owned the studio decided to step up and shoot for us. Looking at the resulting images now, I couldn't imagine them any other way. He did an outstanding job and I'm still friends with him today. smile

I had a photographer once, the day before our schedule shoot, message me with sincere apologies that he had to cancel because I am too beautiful and he feared he wouldn't be able to capture my beauty. It was a pathetic excuse.

Don't know if this would be considered the "worst" but it certainly was quite an entertaining excuse.

A new model scheduled a shoot with another photographer friend on a Sunday morning, and then with me on Monday afternoon.  Sunday morning rolls around, my friend says the model is a no show no call, my friend sends her a message, finally that evening, she responds with " I am so sorry, my sister got hit in the head today with a golf club, we had to rush her to the hospital and she almost died, shes doing fine now." My friend tells me this, so I figure, she will have plenty of time to make our shoot on Monday since its in the afternoon, well shoot time rolls around, no model ( I kind of expected it in a way, but still ) so I message her and ask what happened, why did she miss the shoot . . . she finally responded later that evening with "  I am so sorry, my sister got hit in the head today with a golf club, we had to rush her to the hospital and she almost died, shes doing fine now." so, I responded with the usual, "you sister got hit in the head with a golf club, today?" she said yeah, we were at my aunts house today and we were playing on the golf course and she got hit and we had to rush her to the hospital, it was http://assets.modelmayhem.com/images/smilies/scary.pngshe almost died" so I asked, "did she get hit in the head 2 times? today and yesterday, or just today", she responded with "no, just today" my response was, "Oh, cause you were scheduled to shoot with my friend yesterday and you said she was hit in the head with a golf club yesterday, and now you say she was hit in the head with a golf club today, thats one very unlucky sister"  she responded with " Im sorry" and her profile went POOOOOF

had two...
model on the way to a shoot, supposedly drove two hours and had a tire blow out,but still coming. no call or txt after that.
had another call and say an hour before the shoot, he was "going to be a little late because he had to stop and get gas" never heard from again.
guessing the gas station was a black hole.

If you hit someone...male or female - expect to be hit back. Not condoning what a$$hat did...but "don't hit a girl" only goes so far.

My favorite is the time I had scheduled with a new model, and when the time came and went, I called to find out where she was.

"My friend called and invited me to the beach, so we're on the way... can we reschedule?"  Me: "No"

Sorry my mom wouldn't let me is actually a legit reason for not doing something. After all, she's the one signing my release smile

Weirdest excuse I've gotten: After 20+msgs later, 2 hours before shooting a normal fashion shoot, the photographer suddenly msged me and said: Sorry didn't realize you were 17.

I had a session with another photographer and he gave me the creeps. So, I am not going to shoot with you anymore.

I guess she thinks I am going to be creepier!

so far this is the most legitimate excuse..

I called the photographer from the meeting location, like we had agreed to in the confirmation emails. His response: "Oh, you're actually there? I thought for sure you were going to flake." He wasn't even on his way and had an hour to travel.

I asked him what made him think that I would flake and he said I was to formal in my emails...

... paid shoot, scheduled way ahead of time, photos published, 1 hours shoot, really really easy...
She called me 5 mins *prior* to call time sounding like she either just woke up or she just smoked a joint. She thought I was gullible or without any common sense  to not know how long a drive is from here city. She wanted to know if I would reschedule. I said no and posted it on my MM profile...

A man with a black belt contending with an untrained woman should be able to easily block her blows or, at most, give a very measured response to let her know not to hit him without having to leave THREE bruises.

Too much detail on your profile.  The only thing that you can post is "Do not Recommend".

I know a model who actually did get food poisoning from a burrito.  She wound up in the emergency room all night.  She's one of my fave's, a real trooper.

I heard a 17 yo photographer do the same to a model.  She wanted a beach bikini shoot.
