Today is the 10th anniversary of the bombing in Bali.
I can't say this on my local forums as I might get lynched.... Hell might have a mob after me on here too......... But rant mode on.
Bali is a lovely country but ever since tourism took over they had nightclubs, bars, and all the negative stuff that attracts, and this could be said about any country, but this is part of the reason that the bombers said they did what they did because Westerners have corrupted and ruined their country brought in drunkenness, prostitution and all the other baggage that goes with that.
Just saying ......I don't endorse what the mad fuckers did but I wonder if they had a point however small?

I think we interject our culture and beliefs where it isn't wanted, and we have no business doing so.
However, as a culture, that's just what we do. Until our governments gets their heads out of their asses that these countries need assistance- but they DON'T need to be turned into the USA or whatever, we're all stuck.

That's the problem though. Help can be given but usually all the other baggage goes with that.

The only help we should be giving is to ASK the people who need help what they need, give the money to people who are reliable (and not westerners) and let the people do their thing to help themselves.

A couple of days ago, the Taliban decided that a young teenage girl who wanted an education for herself and other young women in Pakistan needed to be killed because of her beliefs.
Is this a "Western" idea that has corrupted the purity of their society, one that deserves bombing or attempted murder?
And as to Bali, did we export what the cowardly bombers disliked, or was it imported by those who found it interesting and exciting?

I dind't say Westerners put all that stuff there, but when you become a tourist trap that stuff just happens and locals and ex pats start businesses like bars and nightclubs to cater for the tourists... I was just saying that everywhere that happens all the negative baggage that goes with it comes along for the ride.... And it impacts on the locals....

Everyone blames the west for something or another, wanting to read, wanting to going to school, not be forced into marrying some old fart because some old dudes say too, all kinds of pro west evil, but these same countries don't mind the handouts.

Interesting, isn't it? There, a young woman wants to go to school so dearly she'll risk her life for it. Here in the US, we disparage schools and education in general (and outright demonize teachers), ridicule intelligent people, and look with suspicion on anyone who speaks English "too well" because they must be up to something.
