This is our popular beginners session intended to give you all the information you need to work in a studio. Although its not obligatory if you've got no prior experience of working in a studio, you'll get more from our workshops and solo studio time if you've done one of these first. It's also a good preparation for striking out on your own using flash guns or an entry level studio flash lighting kit.
The session covers:
- Operation and standard features of studio lights and how to work with them
- Different kinds of light modifiers and shapers, what they do and how to use them
- Ideas for how you can use and refine working with one studio light
It is widely recommended that when you start learning to work with studio lighting you stick to using one light. Until you're comfortable with working with one, adding more lights into the situation just complicates things. This is actually quite useful as its easy to duplicate the kind of one light set up I'll be showing you in your own home.
This is a beginners session and will start from the beginning, with no assumptions made about prior knowledge of working in a studio.
We will have Fawnya Frolic sitting for us and everyone will get 10 minutes shooting time with the model so you can get a feel for what its like working in a studio.
The session will last about 3 hours.
