Two people were missing and four people were airlifted to a hospital Friday after an oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico some 17 miles southeast of Grand Isle, La., the U.S. Coast Guard told NBC News.
Rescue crews were searching the waters for the two.

The fire was later extinguished and 28 people had been aboard the rig, the Coast Guard said.
It was not known if the fire had caused a spill.

Lets hope and pray there isn't a massive oil spill.

Damn it !!!

When is Obama going to step up and put a stop to all these things that are entirely out of his control.

Wait, no, this is Susan Rice's fault.

No, it is presents, it is the presents that Obama gave people, yeah, that is to blame.

It was all the illegal immigrants in our country, yeah, that's the ticket.

I don't know, here is a crazy idea... our dependence on oil has us risking our environment and our lives in so many ways, this is just another example, and there will be countless examples in the future, probably even more if the "drill baby drill" idiots.

Seriously, I hope that the missing people are found okay, that hopefully too many were not hurt or killed, and that there hopefully is not going to be a leak of any significance.

Sadly, I don't think these are going to be the rare events everyone assumes them to be, especially as corporations keep trying to squeeze every possible penny of profit, at the expense of safety, maintenance, and common sense.

The updated news story says the rig was not pumping oil yet. So it appears there won't be a major spill.

Well that is at least something to be thankful about.  When I first read this, I was thinking "Oh no, not again!"  These events are why I think it's so important to find and develop other energy sources.
