Nude models, what do you call your 'parts?'
Since a bunch of photographers really do seem to be frightened (for whatever reason, I'm still not completely done speculating on that one), to call a nipple nipple, or some are just unsure of what's approporiate. All comfort level talk aside, girls, what do you call your own bits for the ladies and gents behind the gear? Dec 08 12 09:07 am Link This should prove interesting. Dec 08 12 10:03 am Link As self-appointed chairwoman of the tbtc (Ittt Bitty Titty Committee), I will go first: for me acceptable terms are as follows: boobs breasts tits (only if you have a cookie!) butt gina vajayjay crotch pussy (more cookies) behind nethers lady bits/parts/stuff stuff nips nipples Dec 08 12 10:11 am Link Breast, butt, nipples, private area...lol Dec 08 12 10:11 am Link heyyyy welcome. Thanks. Dec 08 12 10:13 am Link When doing a nude shoot, it's usually wise for the photographer and model to sit down for a few minutes before actually shooting and discuss this issue. Some people like to use a chart, and to number the body parts for ease of communication. It could go something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLeBWcARXYo Dec 08 12 10:20 am Link Americans ^^. Why so difficult? Breasts, nipples & crotch; plain simple. I also like Brunesci's "lady garden" Oh, yes: please do not refer to my womanly stuff by a word you would use for a 4y.o. (like "peepee" or something). Dec 08 12 10:23 am Link I call my boobs: Tits/tiny mounds. I call my crotch: Va-Gi-Na... making sure to make it the longest word possible. I call the inside of my Vagina: the pink shit... for example "make sure my pink shit doesnt show" and i call my nipples: Nips. but... i kinda dont care about being politically correct.. i tend to be gassy on shoots and i fart a lot in the nude.. or belch.. but it makes me less bloated. soo yay! Dec 08 12 10:24 am Link It's about easily offended people, and shyness on the part of the model, and not wanting to sound to technical or offensive. I sometimes flat out ask what to call them so I don't come across as inappropriate. A shy model hearing "p*ssy" which sounds a little x-rated and maybe only heard from their lover can really cause them to clam up. (no pun intended, but decided to leave it. I don't think that's a good one to use by the way. ;^) ) Vagina sounds too clinical, and "Crotch" sounds like a less nasty version of "snatch". Or open palm, moving in a large circular motion in the round about area...standing a few feet away of course. Dec 08 12 10:46 am Link Lorayne York wrote: LOL! Is that the TRUE definition of an "edgy" shoot? Or does it depend on the look you have on your face at the same time? LOL! Clenched teeth, furrowed brow, etc. Dec 08 12 10:49 am Link Don't forget 'front bottom' I also met a model who called her labia her 'party bits'. If you want to be a bit crude you could ask the model to 'flash the gash' Dec 08 12 10:52 am Link Eurocat wrote: I'll remember this for tomorrow. Thanks. Dec 08 12 10:59 am Link Lorayne York wrote: i love this Dec 08 12 11:16 am Link To be honest as long as its not vulgar or cheesy its fine with me, having nicknames takes the edge off things Dec 08 12 11:19 am Link OmnyRa wrote: Yeah, when the day comes I let people call my stuff 'snatch' and 'cooter' and let them get away with it, that, ladies and jellyspoons, will be the day Satan will have to skate to work. Dec 08 12 11:51 am Link I say lady bits mainly because synonyms are fun Dec 08 12 11:55 am Link Axioma wrote: Um, I'm a guy so I don't have a Lady Garden Dec 08 12 11:56 am Link -B-R-U-N-E-S-C-I- wrote: Lies! Only a specimen who owns the glorious phenomenon could come up with a correct term for the awesomeness ^^. Dec 08 12 12:01 pm Link Like Ansel Adams I use the Zone System, and I number the various parts Zone I through Zone X. Dec 08 12 12:04 pm Link D. P. Dec 08 12 01:00 pm Link Although I call it the vulva, I'm surprised at the number of models who never use that word. Then you might ask why I'm calling it anything, but that's something else again. I thought it was hilarious when I read a model refer to her "undercarriage." Dec 08 12 01:03 pm Link I agree that's a silly bit of pseudo political correctness. When neccesary, I use terms like breasts, nipples, butt, vulva or rarely labia. Since I don't shoot gynecological illustrations, I never have occasion to say vagina. The last time I asked a model what she called her privates, she answered "Homer". That cured me. Dec 08 12 01:26 pm Link Really ???? If you shoot nudes obviously you are an adult... It depends from model to model.. while some are comfortable with me saying.. "okay" spread it open and lets shoot some pink" others are not and have to say " Please now put your lips apart" Why this threads... ? Dec 08 12 04:13 pm Link Some words might not translate across cultures very well ('fany' means the front bit not the back bit here nearly the same level as 'snatch' on crudity scale). Also had an experienced English nude model think 'beaver' was a hugely funny way to describe it. Dec 08 12 04:49 pm Link I refer to my various parts differently depending on the company I happen to be in at the time (for example, things get pretty un-repeatable if I'm hanging out with my friends). So, I don't have standard labels for my bits. Except perhaps for the generic term "bits". I actually don't mind what labels photographers use in order to direct, so long as it's a term I'm familiar with, so I don't get confused and start wondering what a "monchichi" is and how I'm suppose to move it to the left. Say boobs, breasts, nipples, ladyparts, ladygarden, punani, snatch, butt, ass, whatever - just try not to stammer too much when you do. The only rule I have is that if you're going to tell me I have great tits, I'd prefer you have a British accent. It just sounds better that way. Dec 08 12 05:16 pm Link ...your Hairy Beaver needs to smile.... Dec 08 12 06:49 pm Link Eurocat wrote: This is pretty much it. Haha. I hearby appoint myself a member of the IBTC Dec 08 12 06:51 pm Link (sorry, posting from my MUA profile) I honestly don't care what you call it, although I personally just hate the term pussy, I dunno why, just do. I dunno what's so bad about the proper terms. I just really dislike it when people use the term vagina incorrectly. Vagina is just the inside part. The outer bits are called the vulva. I'd be afraid if someone wanted a picture of my vagina... kinda need a speculum for that... Dec 08 12 07:01 pm Link Eurocat wrote: Breasts, nipples, labia. And, on a couple of occasions, vagina was actually relevant, but that's not typical. Dec 08 12 07:15 pm Link Caroline Alexander wrote: I don't like nicknames for various reasons, but the most important one is that different people use the same word for different things. For that matter, "vagina" is used to mean all sorts of different things. Dec 08 12 07:19 pm Link This post is useless without pictures! Dec 08 12 07:35 pm Link |
