This is my critique thread, open to anyone. You may ask me anything about your portfolio or profile, the more specific your question, the more precise of an answer I can give you. I will be blunt but I am generally not cruel. If you don't ask a specific question I will only tell you my very first impression of your port.

I am happy to help you delete but I will not tell you what I'd delete from your portfolio if it consists of more than 40 images.

No butthurt allowed. If you think I don't know what I'm talking about and don't care for my opinion then please don't post.

Edit: I'm back at it!

I think we are somehow similar: very rinascimental type... with big brest. I'll be glad to have some advice from you.

Please tell what I could do to improve my photography.  I shoot what I want and whatever interests me at the time, hence the reasons for my images being all over the place.

I'm still in the process of submitting to an agency but I'm really just experimenting around and working with different photographers until "I get it."
My question is, am I getting there slowly but surely?
And do you think I'd be of agency standard? Why or why not? smile Thanks!

Full body shots.

Just keep shooting and work with more models. I really like the connection your models seem to have with you.

Some cool stuff in your portfolio. 4, 7 and 9 strike me as weaker than the rest, I'd lose those.

Your body looks beautiful here, but the fact that the feet are cropped off irks me:

A lot of your work is nice, so I'll just tell you what the first few things are I notice that I don't like.

I am not a fan of the silhouettes.

I've critiqued this  before:

All I see is ear, sorry. This would have been a good shot if the hair had covered the ear, but the way it is I find it really unflattering.

Make-up crimes:

Among your much nicer work there are quite a few snap shots that are not up to par with what I think you are capable of, mostly near the end of your portfolio. You could delete quite a lot.

I do admit to keeping some older images that I just like, even though they are not my best work - I really do need to address that...     thank you for allowing me to see some of my work through your eyes.....

I'd delete 3 (personally I find recreated ads tacky) and 4 (snapshot), that will immediately make your port stronger.

Study framing/cropping. You tend to crop off hands and feet awkwardly.

The cropping here is weird, for example, I would have liked to see the feet or the hem of the dress:

I would like to know your thoughts. I already know that I need to work on my expressions, but what else can enhance my portfolio. I plan on losing about ten pounds, what type of modeling do you think will fit me better after the transformation?

You do not need professional photos to submit to an agency. They want polaroids. Attending an open call would be your best bet.

What do I think? On MM you would be referred to as agency standard. Your face is pretty and interesting, but I am not sure it strikes me as editorial. I think you can probably get signed by a smaller agency, but as for the top 10 ones in NYC I have no clue. You are still young enough but aren't getting any younger, so I say approach agencies NOW, ideally by both submitting polaroids and attending open calls.

If you want to be agency signed it doesn't really matter what I think or what anyone else on here thinks, though, ultimately only agencies have answers for you.

I really like your work. I'd trade with you.

Two things I found I didn't like:

This is unflattering for the model (huge double chin - I wonder why photographers so often overlook this?):

This I think it's just weaker than the rest of your port:

Sadly I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. Deleted, thanks.

TBH I only kept that one as it generates random messages advising me to remove it (due to the rail tracks) which I found mildly amusing. It's gone now though.

Thanks again smile

Thank you

I dig a lot of your work, especially your nudes, you know how to make the female form look good. I like how dynamic a lot of the poses are.

I can only see a few I'd delete right away:

Duckface (!), boring compared to the rest of your port, don't like the tones and the wardrobe at all either:
http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120925/00/5061643abbb1a_m.jpg

I like neither the model's expression, the make-up, the hat, nor the tones, also I think it's boring:
http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/111101/00/4eafa18c46e1f_m.jpg

I dislike this for similar reasons:
http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/111101/00/4eafa1a188872_m.jpg

This doesn't fit well with the rest of your port, the male model isn't actually modeling, which I find distracting:

As an amateur, I realize that my port "is all over the place".  I am interested in what you might see as my strong suit.

Any that must be deleted?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

I can see you doing glamour and commercial. You are a bit short for fashion but you could still attend open calls and submit polaroids and see what agencies have to say, theirs is the only opinion that matters anyway.

For commercial you might want to start by getting yourself a really good headshot of you smiling.
