As do I.... if he really believed it.
Or he made it up for sympathy votes for the Heisman.
Which he still lost.

I think he was in on it. Part of the story was that they initially met after a Stanford - Notre Dame game. He told his father that they used to meet when she travelled to Hawaii. And he claims that they talked on the phone every night.

You don't imagine meeting your girlfriend after a ball game. It either happened or it didn't.

I don't think he was deceived at all. I think he was in on it the whole time. He and his buddy trolled the entire fucking country . . . . THAT was epic. Holy shit.

I don't have enough information nor do I even want to research it. If the guy trolled, shame on him. If the guy didn't troll, that sucks.

Very doubtful on the part I bolded. One spectacularly bad game is not going to end his career.

The championship game likely knocked him out of top-five draft status, possibly further. Depending on how this bizarre story about his fake GF shakes out, he could possibly knock himself down to the second round of the draft.

This...plus...The reporter who interview him in Oct. ESPN...Ask to see a picture of the dead dying girl, and a phone number to the family of the dead dying girl...Te'O would not provide a picture or phone number or family of the dead dying girl.

It is strange...IF Te'O was a taken advantage of a cruel hoax..shame on them, and naive actions...BUT...if he was apart of the cruel hoax...tells you a lot about Te'o.

On one hand, he's Mormon, so it's possible the young man is just ridiculously naive. Most Mormons I've known were very trusting and honest and were prone to looking for the best in people... to a fault.

On the other hand, I've known a few astoundingly dishonest and manipulative Mormons.

Religion has nothing to do with it.
Trust is earned.
The story doesn't jive.

I believe you could have an emotional connection without the face-to-face.
Truth is, eventually you have to meet :-).

Without discernment and without skilled discretion, anyone could fall for anyone.
That is not naïveté, that is stupidity.

As for being taken advantage of, there are many sick people in this world.

Naïveté at its finest is beautiful.

As I explained, religion could have something to do with it. For some people, trust is entirely earned; none is given free. For some people, some level of trust is implicit from the getgo.

You say potato, I say potahto.

Religious and nonreligious people can be fucked up just the same.

I do agree that some religions start with a base 'trust everybody' mentality. Even if you are a devout *insert religion here*, that doesn't mean you abandon all common-sense and logic.

Anyone could give you photos.

There are people on here that claim to be men that are women and vise-versa. How many fake profiles people have to talk in forums :-)

I talk on the internet the same way I talk face-to-face. No bullshit.

As for identity,

What really blows is to be duped face-to-face.

I want to see this.

I am curious how many people talk to others on the Internet more than they talk to people that they know personally.

One thing that I will never understand is when people claim that they're so gloriously happy with their husband, wife, significant other, et cetera, yet they spend all their time yakking it up on the Internet :-)

Is it analogous to people that write fake casting calls to get attention directed to their Facebook/business?

So all these model's grantparents deaths are caused by car failures???  smile

Either way, this ramping up of grandparent deaths is going to decrease what has been encouraging longevity statistics.

I used to, but he practically vanished from Ohio with the switch to CBS radio. Jay Mohr is funny in small doses, but too much Jay makes my ears bleed.
