Models do you check Craigslist castings more
Models do you check Craigslist casting calls then Model Mayhem? I put the same exact casting on both sites and get reply's from the craigslist one. But the thing is 99% of the models that reply are from Model Mayhem. Apr 03 13 08:04 pm Link I check CL a lot more because there doesn't seem to be many Casting Calls in my area posted here. At the same time, most of the ads on CL are from GWCs or photographers that produce amateur photos that I can't really use. I guess it's all in the experience. Apr 03 13 08:15 pm Link I do it when there isn't any castings for me listed. I haven't had work from there since last year though, and surprisingly enough it was for Fashion. Usually, I look for Art type of postings in the NYC area. Apr 03 13 08:24 pm Link I check it from time to time, but I always check in here first. I've found some good stuff on CL, but overall MM has been more fruitful. With that said, I tend to exercise more caution with CL stuff. It's not as tight knit, reputation driven community as this is, imho. Apr 08 13 09:05 pm Link I was gonna ask the same thing, but I look under "Gigs' and Artist Community Apr 08 13 09:19 pm Link I look under Gigs>Talent Gigs. It even says actress, actor, modeling, etc in that sub category. Apr 08 13 09:20 pm Link Whenever I check Craigslist in search of modeling gigs, all I find are postings along the lines of "Looking for sexy 18+ model for porn/erotic nudes/bondage shots/POV adult film/foot fetish photos/etc." usually for someone's personal collection. Not quite what I'm looking for, so I personally tend to only check CL when I'm looking for some laughs rather than for anything serious. Just checked it for shiggles, actual posting I found: "POV adult models - I am looking for a female between the ages of 18 - 30 who is willing to have nude pictures taken and be filmed doing various extremely explicit stuff naked with me, this is very intimate adult shoot." Oh goodness. Apr 08 13 09:37 pm Link I live in a college town so CL ads in my area are mainly geared towards college girls. Most are in the "Gigs" section but some are also in the Etc. section for jobs. I probably check CL more than MM because CL ise usually paid and MM is usually TF, even for nudes. YMMV. Apr 09 13 05:52 am Link MM is a lot better. Apr 09 13 06:57 am Link I've seen the same thing. The surprising thing is that models with MM accounts don't answer the MM casting, but answer on Craigslist. I'm not sure why that is, but my return from CL is much, much better. I still find MM very useful for direct contacts. Apr 09 13 07:06 am Link No, but do check both Apr 21 13 06:41 pm Link I do both, but to give you an idea- between Model Mayhem and CL I've probably responded to 50-60 castings in the last week or so. I've received ONE response on MM (although all messages were read), I've booked seven shoots off CL. Mostly with photographers who are also on MM, but say they never use the site because of the abysmal flake rate and lack of responses. Apr 22 13 06:19 am Link I never look twice at craigslist and I'll tell you why: SCAMMERS AND CREEPERS I only did one shoot from a craigslist ad, it was because another model and friend of mine asked me to join her for the shoot. It turned really sketchy really fast, and the photographer not only refused to pay us, he also never gave us our images. Excuse my language, but fuck Craigslist. Never again. Apr 22 13 06:22 am Link for some strange reason I have found that if you want to shoot an mm model you have to post a cl casting Apr 22 13 06:26 am Link I check both. It seems like CL has more variety but also more porn related shoots. One said a guy wanted to take pics of a girl wearing nothing but whipped cream for his personal collection....EW!! When I do check CL i look under Gigs and Jobs: Etc and Tv/film/video I trust the listings on here more than I would there though Apr 30 13 09:55 am Link I'm in a mentorish mood today, it seems. As I said previously, I use CL a lot, and to excellent effect. Of course, YMMV, for various reasons, but I can give you some basic guidelines for why CL works for me, and how I avoid horrible experiences. The first Rule of CL is: It's CL. which means every wannabe porn producer or perv with a tickle in their britches can post a casting. Not that it's any different than any other modeling site, but they tend to be more blatant about it there. Avoid any casting that the title looks like this: $$$$NEED MODELS 18+ NOW$$$$ They're either looking for hookers or porn stars. So unless that's your job search requirement, don't even waste the click. Rule 2: DO look at any other casting for models or promo or event staff (I select ALL GIGS when looking at castings on CL so I see all of these castings at once). You don't have to respond. However, here's a sample pulled from today's Nashville Gigs section: Females to work charity event (Clarksville, TN) Okay.. so, no cash. Shucks. However.... do you like tattoos? Even if you don't, maybe you have a friend or family member (or even a photographer you can't afford to pay but might be willing to TFTattoo...) who does and they DO have birthdays... ask if you can have a GC for that tattoo instead, and you can give it as a gift. They're going to feed you, and chances are, you'll be able to network (take some business cards or comp cards). If you don't have anything else to do that day- this could be a nice little gig. About me: You attach your photos (not everyone can see MM photos, for whatever reason)- I try to attach 3-5 of the best out of my portfolio. If you do nudes, include at least 1 really good nude. Apr 30 13 11:33 am Link I just went to post on CL but they want my private phone number for verification. wtf? I am not giving out my private phone number so CL can sell it to text and voice telemarketers and spammers. Guess I will just post on corkboards at the local colleges, in a local laternative newspaper. Screw CL. Apr 30 13 12:31 pm Link I used to check CL a lot. Most of the photographers I found there did not have an MM or seemed "weird". I dont often check it, unless Im trying to find something specific. I only made the mistake of posting a casting call on there once.... Apr 30 13 12:35 pm Link Randall_Oelerich wrote: CL has never called or texted me and I've been signed up for years, I dont get telemarketing either. Apr 30 13 12:35 pm Link Randall_Oelerich wrote: The number is so they know you're not some spambot. All they do is send a verification number (5 digits) through text or phone call ONCE! Never again will they EVER contact you. Apr 30 13 12:45 pm Link Okay i might entrust CL with my number then; worst case at least I have a smartphone and with an android app called Phone Warrior that can do a pretty good job at blocking spam-- uses Borg type collective consciousness like gmail does to collect data from the global community on spammers and then block them. Apr 30 13 02:13 pm Link So I just went to post the ad on CL and this time I decided to just keep it as a TF creative gig, no mention of $. This time I was not asked to provide a phone number. Perhaps the phone number request by CL happens for paid gigs? I don't know, but I am glad I got my ad posted without having to give out my mobile phone number. May 01 13 11:25 am Link |
