Hey Guys,

Going to my first IMATS in Vancouver, in July. Need to build up my kit and know I should save up some $cash$ to bring with me! tongue Just wondering what have people bought there in the past? Excited about trying out & picking up some OCC products, as they're hard to get your hands on in my area. What have you guys bought? Any great deals to look out for? What are your faves?

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks!

Last year I saved a few bucks and picked up.....
Brushes(lots), metal pallets, spatulas, OCC liptars, OCC airbrush MU, Scandinavia setting spray, Ingot rainbow eyeshadows. NYX bronzer #4, Nyx pencils- Milk, lashes,

I should have picked up Ben Nye setting powders, RCMA makeup or Graftobian, MUFE face and body, LIT glitter adhesive, concealer wheels, Inglot and Nars blushes.

Enjoy yourself,

smile

OCC products are a great addition to a kit. lip tars (when used properly) have never failed me! the tiniest bit goes a really long way and I have used them for so much beyond lips. sheering them down and tapping them onto cheeks as blush is amaaazing.
I just purchased their new lip gloss stains for myself and I'm a happy girl.
Inglot has become a new favorite of mine. They have such a fantastic range and I feel like their show discount was great.
Picking up the pro size of staples in your kit is always a good idea. stock up on what you use a lot of and save $$
brushes are always a good purchase at the shows!

Brilliant idea !

I don't want to hack the thread but does anyone know how much of a discount you get at the make up shows? A rough average ?

It's usually equal to and sometimes a little better than the pro discounts the brands offer.

To the OP - the Vancouver IMATS is pretty small, don't expect to see all the exhibitors that are at the larger shows. If it's your first trade show, take inventory of your kit, review the exhibitors list in advance and plan your purchases accordingly. Go with a budget and a list - it is very easy to be overwhelmed by the bright array of colours and products and to overspend! Embryolisse, OCC are usually good buys, if Frends is there they usually have good discounts. As already mentioned, it's a good time to buy brushes and other tools, I also like to get bulk false eyelashes.

My recommendation is to buy the items/brands that are not easily available in your area (such as OCC) or inexpensively online (shipping costs to Canada are a bitch and you often get dinged for GST & admin fees too) or brands for which you don't have the pro discount.

Don't forget about the education offered - review the schedule and speakers and be sure to attend those that will benefit your planned career path. Plan your shopping in between seminars. And don't be shy - introduce yourself to others and make connections - some of the people you meet could become good friends and colleagues!

Have fun!

With the vendors that will attend you should get MUFE makeup and Flash pallet, Magnetic pallets, R&L brushes, affordable lashes, Ben Nye setting powders ( a few small jars in multiple shades) Crown bushes ( small shadow double sided and any affordable disposables stuff)

That is what I can suggest. Hopefully there will be more vendors attending by July.
